Sure enough, the next day began a historic ascent of Apple stock, an in-your-face rally that many thought made no sense. There's a coalescence of two themes, high speed, accelerated computing and increasingly intelligent AI, and neither works without Nvidia chips. I know that it seems impossible to ponder Nvidia's stock going any higher or passing Apple and Microsoft and staying ahead of it. Ask yourself, does any company match Jensen and Nvidia right now? I say let others be baffled over the Apple versus Microsoft versus Nvidia conundrum.

They offered three pieces of Stoic advice for handling the anxiety of this year’s election. Many Stoic leaders would never be labeled as “idiotai.” They were passionately involved in politics and the pursuit of justice. At Rome’s Pride celebration, bare-chested men in pink angel wings danced to Abba songs, women wrapped in rainbow flags kissed, and shimmering drag queens waved from parade floats. And then there was Pope Francis. Romans came to the Pride parade on Saturday dressed like Francis, wearing papal hats and T-shirts that read, “There is never too much frociaggine,” a reference to an offensive slur against gay men that the pope has been accused of using twice in recent weeks. The slur “is the slogan of the 2024 Pride,” said Martina Lorina, 28, an actress who was holding up a banner bearing the word. After Italian media reported that Pope Francis used the slur at a meeting with priests to complain that there was too much “gayness” in the church, the Vatican apologized.

Joy’s had always been an unusually sensitive nose, the inheritance, she believes, of her maternal line. Les only learned of Joy’s peculiar nose well after their relationship began, on a trip to the Scandinavian far north. Joy would not stop going on about the creamy odor of the tundra, or what she insisted was the aroma of the cold itself. Faced with the prospect of tending to his mother alone, however, Les begged her to stay in Scotland. He trained as a doctor, she as a nurse; they married during his residency.

Warner-Judd was competing in the final of the women’s 10,000 meters in Rome when she had a seizure with about 600 meters left until the finish. “From getting the bus to the warm up track, I can’t explain it – something felt off,” Warner-Judd wrote in the post. “It has been an incredibly tough couple of months and has culminated in me being provisionally diagnosed with focal epilepsy,” she added. This was the pope who asked, “Who am I to judge?” in response to a question about gay priests in 2013. He announced last year that he would allow priests to bless same-sex couples, defying conservative critics in the Roman Catholic Church. And he apologized only weeks ago, in a statement from the Vatican, for using an offensive Italian term for gay men at a conference of bishops. Catholics by the church said his remarks, made in reference to the presence of gay men in seminaries and the clergy, showed the limits of his tolerance. This week, the pope is due to make an historic intervention in the debate around AI at the G7 summit in southern Italy’s Puglia region. AI, the pope believes, can make the world a better place only if it serves the “common good” and does not increase inequalities. European Union lawmakers have already passed a law regulating AI, while a bipartisan group of US senators have set out plans for AI regulation that could lead to federal legislation. “AI and emerging technologies are on Pope Francis’ radar screen,” Larrey, now a professor of philsophy at Boston College, told CNN. It’s clear that Francis sees AI as part of what he called the “epochal change” taking place at the beginning of the 21st century.

Rome — The pope has again used a highly disparaging word against gay people for which he had already apologized last month, ANSA news agency said on Tuesday. Italian media had attributed to the pope the use of a vulgar Italian term roughly translating as “f*****ry,” on May 20 during a closed-door meeting with Italian bishops. Last month, a source close to the pope told CNN the phrase could also be understood as there is a “gay climate” in the seminaries. Two years later he told Italian bishops not to accept gay candidates for the priesthood. Francis, 87, had been credited with making substantial overtures toward the LGBTQ community during his 11-year papacy.

Julia DiPreteI'll be honest — I was slightly underwhelmed when our taxi first pulled up to the hotel. The property was huge, but I thought the exterior looked more like a 1970s apartment block than a five-star hotel. The vast space felt like a cross between Scandinavian minimalism and the Palace of Versailles in the best possible way. Modern lines met gold details everywhere, and it worked. Our room wasn't quite ready, but I learned our stay had additional perks because I booked through the AmEx Travel Fine Hotels and Resorts program.

What important lesson can we learn from history to help us in this moment? Seeing that in our past should help us expect that and hopefully brace ourselves against it in our own time. You take things case by case, situation by situation, lie by lie. Do you think the news media — as a whole — is adequately covering Trump? I think Americans broadly know that’s happening, but also that they may not necessarily know what to do about it.

The victory was all the more significant because Ms. Meloni was the only leader of a major Western European country to emerge reinforced from the balloting.
