It’s being promoted on the official government website of the Republican-controlled Ohio Senate. Republican Senate President Matt Huffman shied away from labeling “On the Record” a news service when questioned by reporters shortly after its launch. As of Friday, the blog was the only link available under the “News” tab for the Ohio Senate. In comparison, the website for the Republican-led Ohio House features press releases on its signature bills, and awards and activities related to both Republican and Democratic lawmakers. The blog they spearhead is maintained by Legislative Information Services, an IT office for both of Ohio's legislative chambers with a $13 million annual budget.

A civil fraud trial, at which Trump risks being banned from doing business in NY, is in week three. Evidence 'omissions' include emails to Forbes concerning the worth of Trump's NY penthouse. AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Trump Organization may have failed to turn over fraud-trial evidence relating to the size of Donald Trump's triplex penthouse, New York officials alleged on Thursday, in demanding a new "forensic" search of the company's business records. "In some instances, it's been pulling teeth to get documents," Wallace complained during a hearing in April of last year. But these had not been turned over by the Trump Organization, the letter said.

New York Attorney General Letitia James' office suggested Thursday that the Trump Organization failed to produce evidence in the $250 million fraud trial of Donald Trump and his company, citing a recent report accusing a key witness of lying under oath. The attorney general's suit accuses Trump, his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, the Trump Organization and top executives of misstating the true values of properties to obtain tax advantages and better terms on loans and insurance. Wallace, in his letter, proposed that an independent monitor conduct a forensic review of electronic data held by the Trump Organization from August to September 2016. The alleged failure to produce those emails follows "multiple affidavits on behalf of the Trump Organization attesting to the completion of their production obligations," Wallace wrote. Weisselberg, who has been loyal to Trump, served jail time for tax fraud in a criminal case related to his work at the Trump Organization.

(Reuters) - Gold prices edged down on Tuesday after clocking a sharp rise in the last session as risk sentiment improved and bond yields rebounded, while investors awaited the U.S. inflation data due later this week. Gold rose about 1.6% on Monday, its biggest one-day jump in five months, as military clashes between Israel and Palestinian Islamist group Hamas boosted demand for safe-haven investments. European stocks rebounded sharply on Tuesday as dovish comments from Fed policymakers and easing oil prices helped calm investor nerves. Benchmark 10-year Treasury yields rose to 4.7049%, decreasing the appeal for non-yielding bullion. Spot silver fell 0.8% to $21.72 per ounce, platinum slipped 0.3% to $883.97 and palladium dropped 0.8% to $1,130.52.

Storms, floods, fires and other extreme weather events led to more than 43 million displacements involving children between 2016 and 2021, according to a United Nations report. But while catastrophes intensify, the world has yet to recognize climate migrants and find formal ways of protecting them. Nearly a third, or 43 million of the 134 million times that people were uprooted from their homes due to extreme weather from 2016-21 included children. Floods displaced children more than 19 million times in places like India and China. Many are enduring “overlapping crises” — where risks from climate extremes are compounded by conflict, fragile institutions and poverty, Healy said.

US service sector slows modestly in September -ISM survey

Despite the slowdown in new orders, services inflation remained elevated. The services sector is at the center of the Fed's battle to bring inflation down to its 2% target. Services prices tend to be stickier and less responsive to rate hikes. Some economists view the ISM services prices paid measure as a good predictor of personal consumption expenditures (PCE) inflation. A measure of services sector employment fell to 53.4 from 54.7 in August.

Mandatory Credit: Stephen Lew-USA TODAY Sports/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW YORK, Sept 29 (Reuters) - National Football League players who bet on NFL games will face harsher penalties under the league's revised gambling policy, according to a memo obtained by Reuters on Friday. Players who bet on games involving their own teams will face a minimum two-year suspension, while betting on any NFL game will result in a minimum one-year suspension. The league said it was working with the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) to develop a program educating players on changes to the policy. "The NFL and NFL Players Association share a longstanding and unwavering commitment to protecting the integrity of the game," the league and NFLPA said in a joint statement. Several NFL players have faced punishment for gambling over the last two years, as sports betting has become legal in more U.S. states and been made increasingly accessible.

To get there, the country needs to rope in young scientists, startups, investors, and private industry partners, none of whom respond well to a closed-off approach, senior ISRO scientists said. Publicising ISRO scientists' achievements has given them more confidence and brought space startups to the door, asking for guidance as they plan private launches. A more responsive agency makes such partnerships more attractive, private space insiders say. "Private industry does not need help, they need predictability," said D S Govindrajan, president of Aniara Communications, which provides satellite services for emerging markets. Here's why SMS marketing can be a successful way to reach your customers. Understanding these rules is the biggest hurdle small businesses face in getting started in SMS marketing, she added.
