Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino told CNBC's Jim Cramer on Tuesday that the nature of live music keeps it in demand, which helps the business stay strong — even though some consumer-oriented companies report a pullback due to inflation. Live Nation, which also owns Ticketmaster, has its hand in many aspects of the industry. Live Nation shares jumped more than 4% Tuesday after the company posted earnings and reported its most successful summer concert season to date. Rapino claimed that 2025 would likely be "a record year" with a lot of stadium performances, adding that Live Nation has already sold more than 20 million tickets. "The amount of music available to the consumer today has just propelled this idea that they want to see the live show."

Biden in 2020 did not gain ground across the country in as large a percentage of counties as Trump did in 2024. In 2020, Biden won Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, the three former “blue wall” states that decided the election, by a combined 257,029 votes. “In 2020, Biden picks up everywhere. In 2020, Biden won only a little more than one-sixth of the nation’s counties, but the places he captured generated over 70% of the nation’s total economic output. The highest-output counties Trump flipped were almost entirely in the Sun Belt: from Hillsborough (Tampa) and Tarrant (Fort Worth) to Maricopa (Phoenix).

Miller was a powerful White House aide in Trump’s first term, authoring much of his most fiery scripted rhetoric as a speechwriter. Yet despite these draconian visions, there’s uncertainty about how far Trump will go in his deportation program and whether it matches his dystopian speeches. Many Democrats and Republicans could agree on Trump’s vow to start by deporting criminal undocumented migrants — the easiest part of his plan. Trump’s critics and vulnerable undocumented migrants, however, will find little in the president-elect’s new staff picks to offer them comfort. In every incoming presidential administration, staffing is important and provides ideological clues to how a White House will act.

“The Federal Reserve is one of many examples of how we’ve deviated from the Constitution in that regard,” Lee added. Challenging the Fed’s independence“The American people re-elected President Trump by a resounding margin giving him a mandate to implement the promises he made on the campaign trail. That’s empowered Fed officials to make interest rate decisions that aren’t necessarily popular but could help the nation’s economy in the long run. But on the campaign trail, Trump floated requiring Fed officials to consult with him on interest rate decisions. That could lead to pressure on Fed officials to keep rates lower to satisfy Trump’s wishes, which in turn could reignite inflation.

FIFA must halt the process to pick Saudi Arabia as hosts of the 2034 World Cup unless major human rights reforms are announced before the vote next month, Amnesty International and the Sport & Rights Alliance (SRA) have said. A combined bid of Morocco, Spain and Portugal is the sole bid for 2030, while Saudi Arabia is the lone bidder for 2034. Amnesty and the SRA said they had evaluated the human rights strategies proposed by the bidding countries and concluded in a new report that neither bid adequately outlined how they would meet the human rights standards required by FIFA. “FIFA is implementing thorough bidding processes for the 2030 and 2034 editions of the FIFA World Cup,” a FIFA spokesperson said. CNN —A Spirit Airlines plane was hit by gunfire Monday over Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince, according to diplomatic source in the country, resulting in what the airline described as “minor injuries” to one of its crew members. It added that the aircraft has been taken out of service, and Spirit services to Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien have been suspended. Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince, Haiti’s main international airport, has since paused operations following the incident, the diplomatic source told CNN. A veteran Florida strategist who led Trump's political operation for nearly four years, Wiles is seen as loyal and supremely capable. A grandmother who keeps a relatively low public profile, Wiles is Trump's only campaign manager to have lasted an entire election cycle, The New York Times reported. She has a proven ability to manage Trump's unpredictable personality, which will be crucial as she takes on what some consider the second-most-powerful job in Washington, behind the presidency itself. Chris LaCivita, Trump's co-campaign manager, described her as "loyal and honest as the day is long."

A U-turn on US climate policy could be disastrous for the planet, as it raises the risk of emulation. When America does something on the world stage, at least some countries tend to follow. Ahead of Trump’s inauguration, negotiators will ramp down their expectations in terms of what’s possible at the talks, he said. President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who will host the climate talks next year in Brazil, bowed out after a head injury. CNN —The United States has carried out a second consecutive night of strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen, a US defense official said Sunday. Details of the types of weapons, targets or locations of the strikes were not immediately available, though there were reports of explosions in the Amran and Saada governorates, north of the capital of Sanaa, where the US has carried out strikes in the past. They say they won’t stop striking Israel and its allies until a ceasefire is reached in the Palestinian enclave. The US has struck Houthis targets in Yemen multiple times over the last 11 months but the attacks have continued. In mid-October, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced that the US struck the militant group using stealth B-2 bombers for the first time.

President-elect Donald Trump's pick to carry out his sweeping deportation plans may be able to operate with more power, and less oversight from Congress, than some of his own Cabinet members. Homan will instead be the Trump administration's "Border Czar," a title that could grant him significant influence over immigration and border policy without the formal authority — and guardrails — that come with being a Cabinet secretary. Homan will also "be in charge of all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin," Trump wrote in the post. "White House appointees are subject to less oversight than Cabinet and sub-Cabinet officials," said Katherine Hawkins, senior legal analyst for the Project on Government Oversight. "It is much harder for Congress to enforce subpoenas against White House officials, and they are more likely to cite executive privilege and refuse to testify and have that refusal upheld by courts," Hawkins said.
