Investors eager to buy into the stock market rally may want to hold off, according to an analyst for Canadian investment bank Canaccord Genuity. The S & P 500 and Nasdaq Composite closed at all-time highs on Monday, adding to strong gains in the first half of the year. The tech-heavy Nasdaq ended the first half up 18.1%, while the S & P rose 14.5% and the Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 3.8%. In fact, the top 10 stocks in the S & P now account for more than 38% of the index's total capitalization, a new high, Welch said. Meanwhile, the S & P 500 is trading at a rich multiple of 24 times trailing 12-month profits, and expectations are for 10.1% earnings growth in the second quarter, he said.

Dr. Kevin Cannard, a neurologist at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, met with White House physician Dr. Kevin O’Connor at the White House in mid-January, according to White House visitor logs. Cannard has visited the White House at least eight times over the past year, according to the logs, beginning last August and ending with the March 28 meeting. Publicly available profiles name Cannard as a neurology specialist supporting the White House Medical Unit. The Detroit automaker on Tuesday reported sales of 696,086 for the second quarter, up 0.6% from a year earlier and its highest quarterly units sold since the fourth quarter of 2020. Still, EVs made up only 3.2% of its total second-quarter sales. Sales of GM's full-size pickup trucks were roughly 229,000 during the second quarter, up about 6% from a year earlier and the best quarterly sales since 2021. GM's second-quarter sales are expected to slightly outpace the overall industry. Kia, which reports sales on a monthly basis, reported a 6.5% decrease in its June sales.
