The super PAC, Future Coalition PAC, also ran other ads that highlight the Jewish faith of Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, including ads that have leaned on antisemitic “dual loyalty” tropes about Jewish Americans. The first two clips used in the new Harris ad come from Harris’ remarks after meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in July, four days after President Joe Biden announced he wouldn’t seek another term in office. The majority of the nine ZIP codes in the Harris ad campaign are represented by Democratic Rep. Rashida Tlaib in Congress. The Harris campaign did not comment on its ad strategy. WASHINGTON — Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., renewed his criticism of drugmaker Novo Nordisk on Tuesday, claiming that the CEOs of major generic pharmaceutical companies have told him that they can produce and sell its blockbuster diabetes drug Ozempic for less than $100 a month. During Tuesday's roundtable, Sanders said his recent conversations with generic drugmakers revealed that Novo Nordisk's pricing is "nothing less than excess corporate greed." “They have studied the math, and they tell me that they can sell a generic version of Ozempic, the exact same drug that Novo Nordisk is manufacturing, to Americans for less than $100 a month," Sanders said. Sanders’ office declined to say which generic drug companies told him that they could sell Ozempic at a fraction of what Novo Nordisk charges. Novo Nordisk did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In June, Fabric bought Walmart's virtual care business, MeMD, after the retailer announced it would shutter its 51 health clinics. MeMD was Fabric's third acquisition — the startup previously bought asynchronous virtual care platform Zipnosis from Bright Health, as well as generative AI startup Gyant. The startup has acquired TeamHealth VirtualCare, the virtual care business inside giant physician practice group TeamHealth, Business Insider has learned exclusively. While virtual care saw a tsunami of VC interest during the pandemic, investors and healthcare companies alike are now pulling back.

Washington CNN —It’s a pivotal week for the US economy, with the Federal Reserve expected to cut interest rates for the first time since 2020. Fed officials and investors have long anticipated that borrowing costs would come down in 2024 — at some point — according to their economic forecasts. But nine months in, rate cuts still haven’t happened, drenching Wall Street’s parade and leaving US consumers squeezed by elevated interest rates. Here’s why the Fed didn’t cut soonerIt’s simple: The Fed didn’t cut interest rates sooner because it could have reignited inflation or left it stuck above the central bank’s target. Bond yields, which move in anticipation of the Fed’ decisions on rates, have come down over the past several weeks based on signs encouraging the Fed to cut rates, such as weaker-than-expected employment data and cooling inflation.

Fed funds futures have fully priced in that the central bank will lower interest rates, according to CME's FedWatch tool . Many now expect the Fed will achieve the coveted "soft landing" outcome, which means inflation is curbed without tipping the economy into a recession. Rate cuts without a recession has historically been a positive mixture for stocks. Given this backdrop, CNBC Pro screened for names that have performed nicely in past periods where the Fed pulled rates lower without the U.S. economy tipping into a recession. To find these companies, CNBC Pro searched the S & P 500 for members with the highest median gain one year after the Fed has cut rates without an official recession.

CNN —Since joining Manchester City, Erling Haaland has broken record after record, setting expectations for himself that are seemingly impossible to reach. Yet, somehow, he has continued breaking records this season, scoring nine goals in just four Premier League games – the most prolific start to a season ever, surpassing the previous best of eight set by Wayne Rooney. Haaland has been so dominant this season that his individual total of nine goals is more than any Premier League team, except his own Manchester City, has managed between them. And, on Saturday, only the width of a goalpost denied the Norwegian star an unprecedented run of hattricks in three consecutive Premier League games. Already, Haaland has become the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals, doing so in just 48 games – 17 faster than Andrew Cole’s previous record.

Some sections are backward-looking and focus more on touting the record of the Biden-Harris administration, while also criticizing Trump’s agenda. The health care section of Harris’ agenda focuses more on what the Biden-Harris administration has done than plans for the future. The Harris agenda vows to “fight to raise the minimum wage,” but doesn’t say how high she wants it to be. The Harris campaign would not say whether she supports doing away with the 60-vote rule to pass those measures. The bulk of Harris’ agenda would be subject to congressional approval, likely requiring Democrats to control the House and Senate to have a strong chance of passage.

CNN —Registered voters who watched Tuesday’s presidential debate broadly agree that Kamala Harris outperformed Donald Trump, according to a CNN poll of debate watchers conducted by SSRS. The vice president also outpaced both debate watchers’ expectations for her and Joe Biden’s onstage performance against the former president earlier this year, the poll found. Debate watchers said, 63% to 37%, that Harris turned in a better performance onstage in Philadelphia. That June debate was a rare presidential debate win for Trump: In 2020 and 2016, Biden and Hillary Clinton were seen by debate watchers as outperforming him across the presidential debates. Results for the full sample of debate watchers have a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 5.3 percentage points.

New York CNN —Norfolk Southern CEO Alan Shaw was fired for cause by the railroad’s board for “engaging in a consensual relationship with the company’s chief legal officer,” who was also terminated, the railroad announced Wednesday evening. Shaw had been CEO of one of the nation’s four largest freight railroads for just over two years. And he received praise from some past critics of the railroads for steps he took after the February 2023 derailment in East Palestine to improve railroad safety. Still, Norfolk’s actions related to the derailment received harsh criticism from Jennifer Homendy, chair of the National Transportation Safety Board, which investigated the accident. She said Norfolk Southern’s actions following the derailment put first responders and neighbors of the derailment site at unnecessary risk.

CNBC's Jim Cramer on Wednesday told investors that GameStop increasingly feels like a special purpose acquisition company as the videogame retailer's primary business struggles, but it still manages to raise cash. "Doesn't have to be a full plan, could be the mere idea of a plan, but so far, GameStop doesn't even have that — or if they do, they sure haven't shared it with us." The company managed to turn a profit due to interest on the $4.2 billion it has in cash, not underlying business. He agreed with an analyst from Wedbush who suggested the company close its physical stores and operate as a bank. "Ultimately, GameStop's always vulnerable to a short squeeze because, based on whatever nonsense the memesters can temporarily cook up," Cramer said.

Colorado wildlife officials said Monday that they captured and plan to relocate five members of the first pack of wolves to form under the state’s ambitious wolf reintroduction program. That wolf had been involved in repeated attacks on livestock and officials said it would have been kept in captivity if it survived. The pack formed after 10 of the predators from Oregon were released in December over bitter opposition from livestock groups. Ranching groups wanted the wolf pack killed. They said relocating pups risks their survival and wanted more done to keep the pack from killing livestock, such as using electric fencing that can better deter attacks.

Analysts at major Wall Street banks are getting more cautious on chip darling ASML , raising concerns about the critical chip equipment maker's demand outlook. Earlier this week, investment bank UBS downgraded ASML to "neutral" and cut its price target on the stock to 900 euros ($1,000.78) from 1,050 euros previously. Other Wall Street banks have subsequently come out with their own respective analyses on ASML — and they're more downbeat than they were before. The bank remains bullish on the stock, though, keeping ASML in its top pick for EU semiconductor equipment stocks. UBS cautioned ASML's machines could face a slowdown in demand due to an "architecture shift" to gate all around architecture, or GAA.
