Stacey Allaster, United States Tennis Association (USTA) Chief Executive Professional Tennis, told ESPN the disturbance involved three climate protesters. "Three of the four protesters were escorted out of the stadium without further incident," said the USTA statement. As players looked into the stands, security flooded into the section around where protesters were shouting. REUTERS/Mike Segar/Illustration/ Acquire Licensing RightsSept 8 (Reuters) - A surging stock market powered U.S. household wealth to a record high of more than $154 trillion in the second quarter, aided by a rebound in property values, Federal Reserve data out on Friday showed. The Standard & Poor's 500 total return index (.SPXTR), including reinvested dividends, delivered an 8.7% return in the second quarter, its largest gain since the final three months of 2021. Household wealth at the end of June exceeded the previous record high of $152.49 trillion set in the first quarter of 2022 by about $1.8 trillion, or 1.2%. Debt levels for households, businesses and governments kept rising in the second quarter, though the pace of increase varied widely by sector. Business debt growth, meanwhile, moderated substantially, climbing at just a 1.9% annualized rate in the second quarter, its slowest growth since the final three months of 2020.

It would end two tie-breaks later with the Belarusian walking off court into her second Grand Slam final of the season. Soaking up the energy of the home crowd, the 17th seed unleashed a barrage of winners and broke Sabalenka three times to open the match 6-0. Keys broke the Australian Open champion for a fourth time for a 2-1 lead in the second, leaving a frustrated Sabalenka screaming and smashing her racquet. But with Keys serving for a place in the final the Sabalenka who players fear finally appeared. For Keys, who played in the last all-American women's final in 2017, losing to Sloane Stephens, is was a missed opportunity to return to her home final that left her in tears.

Shelton had flummoxed opponents in New York with his big serve but the 36-year-old second seed Djokovic was able to harness his experience to neutralise a third-set surge from the young American. He next faces the winner of a match between top seed and defending champion Carlos Alcaraz and third seed Daniil Medvedev. "These are the kind of matches and occasions that I still thrive on, that still get me going," Djokovic said on court. Shelton handed Djokovic a break in the sixth game of the first set with a series of unforced errors, and the unseeded American was unable to convert his own break point chance in the ninth. Playing in only his seventh U.S. Open singles match, Shelton triumphed in a 30-shot rally before converting a break point in the eighth game, humbling Djokovic, who was appearing in his 100th singles match at the hardcourt major.

Chartbook: Global container freightIn the United States, the volume of container trade handled through the nine largest ports in July was the lowest for the time of year since 2017. The volume of container freight hauled on the major railroads in June was the lowest for the time of year since 2012. Container trade through the port of Singapore, a major transshipment point for the region, has climbed to record levels. Former U.S. President Donald Trump departs from Trump Tower to give a deposition to New York Attorney General Letitia James who sued Trump and his Trump Organization, in New York City, U.S., April 13, 2023. Trump and the other defendants were indicted on charges that they unlawfully pressured Georgia election officials to overturn Biden's election victory in the state. Steven Sadow, a lawyer for Trump, wrote in a one-page court filing, "President Trump hereby notifies the court that he may seek removal of his prosecution to federal court." Federal court could be more favorable for Trump because he would face a more politically diverse jury pool than in Fulton County, a Democratic stronghold. U.S. District Judge Steve Jones is expected to rule on the petitions to move the matter into federal court in the coming weeks.

A view of the exterior of the JP Morgan Chase & Co. corporate headquarters in New York City May 20, 2015. REUTERS/Mike Segar/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSept 7 (Reuters) - J.P.Morgan on Thursday said supply chain disruptions from a potential United Auto Workers (UAW) union strike would cut new vehicle production, drive up used car prices and put pressure on margins in the personal auto insurance business. The automakers "represent about 40% of light vehicle auto sales (by units) in the U.S., and IHS Markit estimates that a strike would disrupt North American vehicle production by roughly 75%," J.P.Morgan said. The brokerage identifies Allstate Corp (ALL.N) and Progressive Corp (PGR.N) as the insurers with the most exposure to a potential UAW strike, with Allstate more susceptible due to its weaker capital position. Used-car prices have had the most impact on auto margins in recent years compared to other factors such as higher spare part costs, labor costs, increased litigation, and severe accidents, the brokerage added.

The prospect of higher rates put particular pressure on growth stocks with the S&P 500 growth index (.IGX) underperforming the benchmark throughout the session. "Growth stocks have been pricing in the idea that inflation has been well anchored and that the Fed's going to cut. The S&P 500 showed little reaction to the Fed's "Beige Book" snapshot of the U.S. economy a week ahead of the keenly awaited August inflation data and the Fed's rate decision on Sept. 20. The 20-year-old will need all of his weapons on Friday if he is to stand a chance in his first meeting with Djokovic. "I think that it's an advantage with my game style, playing someone who's never played me before," Shelton told reporters. "I think that I can bring some things to the table that maybe you don't see in your normal match that you play on the ATP Tour. "I think whenever you play somebody for the first time and someone who has been in this situation so many times and come out victorious so many times, that's in the back of your head," Shelton said.

"Feeling like I left it all out here tonight," said the 47th ranked Shelton, who is still searching for his first ATP Tour win. "He (Djokovic) has won 23 of these (Grand Slams), it doesn't get much better than that," said Shelton. Shelton came out guns blazing, with his groundstrokes struck with such venom they drew gasps from the capacity crowd. After holding his first two serves Tiafoe had no answers for his opponent's explosive forehand as Shelton claimed five straight games to snatch opening set. Another break at 5-2 and Tiafoe's fate was sealed with Shelton holding serve for the win.
