Republicans are headed into 2025 in control of the presidency, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. But there's still one outstanding House race yet to be called. Gray has 105,083 votes, compared to 104,856 votes for Duarte, according to the California Secretary of State's office. The race is a rematch of their 2022 contest, which saw Duarte ultimately defeat Gray by 564 votes out of nearly 134,000 ballots cast. Due to the number of competitive US House races in California, a state with over 22 million registered voters, control of the chamber can theoretically rest on the Golden State alone.

President-elect Donald Trump announced Saturday he would pick Kash Patel, a 44-year-old loyalist with little significant experience in federal law enforcement, to serve as director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I don't want to be a parent and I would like to spend my time doing other things. When we first met in 2012, my wife said that, due to health concerns, she never wanted to bear children. In theory, it removed the physical risk of either having to carry or give birth to a child, two things that understandably terrified my wife. BEIRUT — Islamist rebels breached neighborhoods in Syria’s second-largest city of Aleppo and clashed with government military forces after detonating two car bombs Friday. The Syrian Observatory of Human Rights, the monitoring organization, said fierce clashes were underway between the attacking insurgents and regime troops. India's economy expanded by just 5.4% in its second fiscal quarter ending September, well below estimates by economists and close to a two-year low. The print follows 6.7% growth over the previous quarter and is the lowest reading since the last quarter of 2022. Economists polled by Reuters had forecast growth of 6.5% for the period, while the Reserve Bank of India expected an expansion of 7%. On Tuesday, Trump’s transition team signed an agreement with the White House after months of postponing the traditional transition process – a delay that Biden officials warned could undermine an orderly transfer of power and pose national security risks. In a statement announcing the agreement, the Trump transition said it will use its own security and information systems, its own office spaces and maintain its own ethics plan.
