Autonomous trucking startup Waabi announced Tuesday it has raised $200 million in an oversubscribed Series B funding round led by existing investors Uber and Khosla Ventures. Waabi's latest funding round also includes Nvidia, a new investor in the company, as well as Porsche and the venture capital arm of Volvo. Using generative AI, Waabi has built a single AI system that is capable of reasoning, just as humans do, and that can come up with problems human minds couldn't conceptualize. The new investor round brings Waabi's total funding to $280 million since being founded in 2021. "This funding round gives us everything we need, both financially and strategically, to launch fully driverless trucks and accelerate our growth in 2025," Urtasun said.

JPMorgan boosted its price target on shares of Apple to $245 each from $225 after the firm raised iPhone volume expectations in 2025 and 2026 due to artificial intelligence upgrades. More price-target hikes for Nvidia : Wells Fargo went to $155 a share from $125 at Wells Fargo while Rosenblatt Securities went to $200 from $140. Piper Sandler called the sell-off in Celsius Holdings overdone and reiterated its $90 price target and buy-equivalent rating. Meanwhile, Stifel increased its price target on the memory chipmaker's stock to $165 a share from $145 ahead of earnings June 26. Netflix 's price target raised to $750 a share from $700 by analysts at Loop Capital.

The plane, a Boeing 737 Max 8, was flying at an altitude of 34,000 feet from Phoenix to Oakland, Calif., around 8 a.m. Pacific time on May 25 when the flight crew members said they experienced what is known as a Dutch roll, the N.T.S.B. A Dutch roll is “a coupled oscillation” that creates simultaneous side-to-side and rocking motions, producing a figure-8 effect. The phenomenon is believed to have been named by an aeronautical engineer who compared it to a traditional ice skating technique made popular in the Netherlands. If unaddressed, the wobbling can become more exaggerated, creating a dangerous feedback loop. “It’s a weird movement of the airplane, an oscillation that, if not dampened or stopped, could continue to get worse and worse,” said Jeff Guzzetti, a former accident investigator for the F.A.A.

New York CNN —Red Lobster wants to close several dozen more restaurants following its bankruptcy, and it has identified which ones are in danger of shutting down if the court approves its plan. The chain, which brought affordable shrimp and lobster to middle-class America and grew to become the largest seafood restaurant chain in the world, filed for bankruptcy last month. Red Lobster said that it had more than $1 billion in debt and less than $30 million in cash on hand. Part of its plan is to close some locations of its nearly 600 restaurants in the meantime. A few weeks prior to its bankruptcy, it abruptly closed around 50 locations across the United States.

On a mild Houston day in March 2021, Judge Marvin Isgur prepared to oversee the only case on his docket that morning. In October 2023, the Fifth Circuit Court rebuked Judge David Jones but said that his longtime colleague, Judge Marvin Isgur, had been "unaware" of Jones' inappropriate relationship. "But only Judge Isgur knows what he knew or didn't know about the relationship." Much of this work was in cases before either Judge Isgur or Judge Jones. Isgur can continue to hear the case, he ruled, writing in the December 2023 opinion that lawyers for the creditor "failed to demonstrate much other than that former Judge Jones and Judge Isgur are close friends."

☆ Analysts get more bullish on Costco as it helps consumers fight inflation, shows e-commerce improvement

Wall Street saw much to like in Costco 's earnings report last Thursday, as customers flocked to the warehouse club's stores and website. Costco's earnings per share for its fiscal third quarter came in at $3.78, topping the $3.70 expected from analysts polled by LSEG. The bank believes Costco will continue to benefit from digital enhancements and membership growth. Loop Capital also remains bullish and hiked its price target on the stock to $890 from $840, implying nearly 10% upside ahead. The firm is anticipating continued growth in revenue and same-store sales for the year.

The number of visitors to San Francisco has not rebounded to its prepandemic level — not among humans, anyway. Sea lions, on the other hand, are swimming to the city in higher numbers than ever recorded. This week, sea lion counters — yes, they exist — tallied 2,000 of the whiskered, blubbery creatures in the water alongside Pier 39 on the city’s northern edge. That’s 600 more than the previous record of 1,400 set in the early 1990s, according to Sheila Chandor, who has been the harbor master at Pier 39 since 1985. “They’re not buying the doom loop!” Ms. Chandor said with a laugh, referring to the theory circulated by detractors that San Francisco is on the verge of ruin.
