Brian Kemp, who narrowly defeated Democrat and former Georgia House of Representatives Minority Leader Stacey Abrams in the 2018 gubernatorial race, is running for reelection in a rematch of that race. However, Kemp has also frustrated the most prominent Republican official in the country — former President Donald Trump. The former president credits his endorsement of Kemp as a turning point in boosting the now-governor in both the 2018 Republican primary and in that year's general election.

Meghan McCain, the daughter of late Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain, lashed out at West, Trump and House Republican "idiots" cheering on their reprehensible behavior. "You can say that his particular words in this particular case are not antisemitic," Rosen said Tuesday during Commentary's daily podcast. Nor have they convinced House Judiciary Committee ranking member Jim Jordan to quit hailing West and Trump as personal heroes.

Showtime’s five-part docuseries about The Lincoln Project, the super PAC founded by multiple well-known Republican strategists and operatives with a shared contempt for Donald Trump, reminds me a lot of the organization’s work in 2020: noisy but not necessarily all that effective in realizing its stated goals. It’s not that The Lincoln Project founders shouldn’t be proud of the house they built. We also definitely didn’t need so much footage of various fans — including celebrities — and Lincoln Project members talking about how cool, popular and great the organization is. At the time of that revelation, not even The Lincoln Project disputed it. And while I won’t deny the coverage The Lincoln Project garnered during and after the 2020 election, is it all that hard to troll someone like Trump?

By contrast, Trump had installed 69 judges at this point in his tenure. The most recent two-term presidents, Barack Obama and George W. Bush, each secured 325 Senate-confirmed judges for district courts, circuit courts and the Supreme Court over eight years. McConnell's allies say a GOP-run Senate would force Biden to pick judges who are acceptable to conservatives in order to get floor votes. Republicans ended the tradition for circuit judges in the Trump era and some liberals want to end it for district judges so that GOP senators in red states cannot block Biden’s nominees for vacancies.

Trump had grown furious at McConnell for accepting the results of the 2020 presidential election and declaring it a settled matter. The long-running political brawling between McConnell and Trump shows no signs of fading anytime soon. Trump has repeatedly attacked McConnell and urged GOP senators to depose him as the chief Senate Republican. McConnell, for his part, has only sporadically criticized Trump, and said he would endorse him if Trump were the 2024 Republican nominee.
