Throughout the summer, multiple towns experienced tornadoes, according to the National Weather Service. In July, an EF2 tornado passed through Rome during a severe storm that killed one person and caused widespread damage. There are currently 13 wildfires across the state encompassing more than 5,000 acres, according to Governor Kathy Hochul’s office. An 18-year-old New York State Forest Ranger volunteer and state employee died on November 9 when a tree fell while he was responding to the wildfire in Greenwood Lake. New York City alone has experienced over 230 brush fires since October 29, according to the New York City Fire Department.

Known as the “dancing mouse” due to its slippery movements in that final, fatal fight with the Imperial Japanese Navy, the destroyer USS Edsall went down off the coast of Australia in 1942, under the command of Lt. Joshua Nix. Speaking alongside Kennedy, Australia’s chief of navy, Vice Adm. Mark Hammond, said the wreck was found with the help of advanced hydrographic survey capabilities aboard naval support ship MV Stoker. “Nix’s position was hopeless from the moment Edsall was sighted,” Cox wrote. Images of the nude photos were found on the men’s phones and on Alcala’s iCloud account, according to the indictments. While the indictments don’t specify how the men came under suspicion, the attorney for one of Alcala’s alleged victims has said she reported an incident to the FBI, and one of McKnight’s alleged victims has said she reported him to his supervisor. Seven of the counts specify he took photographs of nude images he found on the victims’ phones, which were found on McKnight’s cell phone. In two of the incidents, McKnight took the alleged victims’ phones after arresting them, the indictment says. One of the former state trooper’s alleged victims described her experience as “really violating” in an interview with KFVS.

WASHINGTON — President-elect Donald Trump’s consistent campaign pledge to impose sweeping tariffs on products imported into the U.S. is likely to face stiff challenges in court and potentially pushback from Congress. President-elect Donald Trump's tax proposals could cost trillions of dollars. In addition to eliminating taxes on certain income, Trump also floated making interest paid on car loans fully tax deductible; getting rid of the controversial cap on state and local tax deductions; ending the double taxation on Americans who live abroad; exempting police officers, firefighters, veterans and active-duty military from federal income tax; and even exploring jettisoning the federal income tax itself. Though his campaign didn’t release details on the proposal, Trump indicated that he would eliminate both federal income taxes and payroll taxes, which fund Social Security and Medicare.
