KFC app users in the country received a message encouraging them to mark the day with crispy chicken and cheese from KFC, according to Twitter users who shared screengrabs of the message in German. “Earlier today an automated push notification was accidently [SIC] issued to KFC app users in Germany that contained an obviously unplanned, insensitive and unacceptable message,” KFC Germany said in a statement emailed to CNN Business. KFC Germany didn’t confirm the language used in the alert. KFC’s message resulted in similar outrage among some German customers and has been widely criticized on social media.

London CNN Business —Adidas has appointed the head of Puma to succeed outgoing CEO Kasper Rorsted, betting on his ability to replicate its crosstown rival’s comeback. Norwegian Bjørn Gulden, 57, will become CEO of Adidas (ADDDF) on January 1, 2023, the German sportswear brand said in a statement on Tuesday. “As CEO of Puma, he re-invigorated the brand and led the company to record results,” Rabe added. Gulden takes over amid a deepening slump in Adidas’ home market of Germany and as inflation begins to weigh heavily on consumer spending globally. Chief financial officer Harm Ohlmeyer will lead Adidas until Gulden takes over.

New York CNN Business —Beyond Meat, the company known for plant-based burgers designed to look, taste and cook like meat, is getting into plant-based steak. But the new product, meant to mimic an expensive cut of beef, arrives as interest in the plant-based sector appears to be ebbing. Each 10-ounce package contains seared plant-based “steak tips” in bite-sized pieces, and is priced at $7.99. “Beyond Steak is a highly anticipated expansion of our popular beef platform,” said Dariush Ajami, chief innovation officer at Beyond Meat, in a statement announcing the new product Monday. The product “delivers the taste and texture of sliced steak.”Beyond Meat launched a new steak product, Beyond Steak.

Now, M&M’S is making another, bigger change — this time, it’s adding a brand new character to the mix. And customers will be able to buy purple M&M’S online, an option that was already available. But when it comes to a regular bag of peanut M&M’S, purple fans are out of luck. “Now we know for certain that M&M’S is a cultural icon.”So when it came to the new purple character, Hwang said, M&M’S didn’t take the reaction to Green into account.
Food prices have spiked 11.4% over the past year , the largest annual increase since May 1979, according to data released in mid-September by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Grocery prices jumped 13.5% and restaurant menu prices increased 8% in that period. With food prices soaring, people are changing how they shop and eat.
