How can investors ride on higher yields? Buy high-quality or short-term fixed income BlackRock Investment Institute said it likes high-quality credit and short-end government bonds "as interest rates stay higher for longer." "Fixed income finally offers 'income' after yields surged globally. "We believe that investors should hold around 2% of cash in their portfolios and should use short-term fixed income (anything below a 2-year maturity) as a proxy for cash," Alvarado added. Wells Fargo Investment Institute's tactical portfolios are allocating between 2% (for "aggressive growth investors") and 17% (for conservative income investors) to short-term fixed income.

Now let's turn to the stock market. Traders gather on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, Friday, March 18, 2016. The surging stock market suggests that investors are fairly optimistic these days. In a Friday note, strategists said the stock market is set to peak in the next two weeks because inflation could come roaring back. US stock futures fall early Monday, after Friday's strong US jobs report fueled speculation that interest rates will rise further.
The US stock market could face collapse by 2050, according to new research by a Finnish economist. Grosby's paper re-examined past studies of stock market crashes to determine if another cataclysm was headed for the US market. Using a model that detects faster-than-exponential growth to identify stock market bubbles, the researchers concluded that the US equity market was headed for a collapse in 2052. He also re-calibrated the model, as other analyses show it could be overestimating the time it takes for a stock market crash to occur. His findings echo warnings from prominent Wall Street commentators, who say disaster looms over the stock market.

I shudder to compare some of the greatest artists of our generation to a hedge fund, but I can't help but notice some similarities between their disdain for their biggest hits and ExodusPoint's difficult 2022. The hedge fund, which still holds the industry's largest launch in history, ended the year with fewer assets, employees, and PMs than it started with. The world's biggest hedge fund has a new co-CIO. Ken Griffin, the billionaire owner of hedge fund Citadel, is causing quite the stir over his suggestion that a historic home on a property he owns in Miami be relocated. The firm continues to cut back on the size of a venture-capital fund its raising, The Wall Street Journal reports, with a new goal of $5 billion.
In case you missed it, the European Central Bank Thursday made a half-point interest rate hike, marking its fifth consecutive move as part of its inflation-fighting efforts. Speaking of rates, today we're going over a key economic indicator that suggests more upside ahead for stocks. Ever since the Fed started tightening policy last March, the stock market has been highly susceptible to interest-rate volatility. Specifically, the MOVE Index — which measures volatility of US Treasury yields — has dipped to lows that haven't been seen since the Fed's first rate hike of this cycle. This means potentially smaller swings in the stock market as highly rate-sensitive equities get some relief after big rate moves battered indexes in 2022.

Billionaire investor Ray Dalio renewed his belief that cash makes an attractive investment, saying it's become more appealing than stocks and bonds amid rising rates. Cash is pretty attractive now," Dalio said on CNBC's " Squawk Box " Thursday. "Real interest rates went from minus 175 basis points to plus 175 basis points, right? The widely followed investor said that higher rates particularly hurt growth-oriented stocks that need to borrow in order to expand. So you're seeing it reflected in not only the long duration stocks," Dalio said.

SINGAPORE, Jan 31, (Reuters) - Like many rich Chinese, graduate student Zayn Zhang thinks Singapore could be ideal to park his family's wealth. His family might establish a Singapore family office to manage its wealth in the future, he added. Well-known Singapore family offices include those set up by James Dyson of vacuum cleaner fame, hedge fund manager Ray Dalio and Zhang Yong, founder of China's Haidilao hotpot restaurant chain. Though fresher statistics are not available, those involved in the industry said interest in family offices picked up in 2022 and is expected to continue unabated this year. While some are setting up family offices, others are setting up business headquarters in Singapore or investing in funds domiciled in Singapore, she said.

Bridgewater Associates co-CIO Ray Dalio has slammed the US debt limit as "a farce". "It works like a bunch of alcoholics who write laws to enforce drinking limits," he said. "We all know that there is no real debt limit because what is called a debt limit never actually limits the debt," the Bridgewater Associates CIO wrote in a LinkedIn post published Wednesday. New York CNN —Big Tech earnings are here, and investors are hoping they don’t wreck the good vibes on Wall Street. Three giant tech earnings reports this week — Microsoft (MSFT), Tesla (TSLA)and Intel (INTC) — could change that. In the year-ago quarter, earnings were $2.48 per share on $51.73 billion in revenue. Still, Wall Street expects Tesla’s earnings to grow, if not at the explosive pace of the past few years. Analysts at Goldman Sachs predict that tech growth will slow to 9% between 2021 and 2024 while the sales growth of the overall S&P 500 reaches 7%.
