For a regular theatergoer, a recent July evening in rural Wisconsin was peak surreal. From my seat, I could see audience members leaning in, transfixed by those unamplified voices. “They’re here to listen,” Brenda DeVita, the artistic director of American Players Theater, said of the faithful who flock to Spring Green, about an hour west of Madison. A.P.T., in its 45th season, describes itself as a language-based company, which explains why it has doubled down on idiosyncratic choices in the current theatrical landscape. Another is eschewing mics.

He famously devastated "Downton Abbey" fans by requesting to leave the beloved period drama, which necessitated killing off his fan-favorite character Matthew Crawley. But after visiting 17 countries, there's one little luxury I can't go without when flying: checking a bag. I find that my carry-on bag is practically tied to me while I'm in the airport, which can become annoying. Avoiding this anxiety-inducing exercise and not rushing to board is a little luxury worth the price of checking a bag. Opting for a large checked bag means I can pack everything I want to bring on my tripI can pack tons of different outfits in my checked bag. But if you ask me, checking a bag is a relatively easy way to have a better travel experience.

Around six years ago, married couple Christina, 37, and Noah, 35, took $10,000 out of the bank. After the massive withdrawal, the money continued to sit — in cash — in their closet for another three years. Noah, on the other hand, is comfortable with what they have and hesitant to spend any money beyond what they absolutely need to. "I think you have a dramatic miscalibration with what a lot of money means," Sethi told them. But sometimes you just need to take an honest look at the numbers," Sethi told her.

The video, released Wednesday by the Kremlin, showed the Russian president was not happy with news from the southern region of Kursk. Protesters rally outside Bulgaria's parliament on Thursday in Sofia, Bulgaria. Here’s a look at what voters had to say as part of four different groups: Trump loyalists, center-right voters conflicted about Trump, young progressives and traditional Democrats. But a group of these women did admit that the decision by Democrats to swap out Biden for Harris does concern them. “My concern about Trump is him making too aggressive of choices and us not being able to recover from it. But that does make me nervous because, did we vet everything that’s going to happen?” said Alyssa, a 29-year old woman who is still undecided on how she’s voting this fall. That’s powerful.”Traditional Democrats think Biden had to goThat support for Biden hanging up his political spikes extended to the group of traditional Democrats too.

Three months ago, the same survey found Trump and Biden effectively tied, with 36% for Biden and 35% for Trump, and 29% planning to vote for Kennedy. This jump in support for Harris today is all the more notable because of how significant the economy is to the voting choices of younger Americans. Read previewOn Tuesday, Elon Musk's X fulfilled his promise to sue advertisers over their boycotting of the platform. GARM creates frameworks to provide common definitions around areas like hate speech and misinformation; it's voluntary whether advertisers use them. It doesn't rank platforms on these issues, and its role isn't to advise advertisers on where to spend their dollars. US advertisers are also protected by the First Amendment to spend or not spend on whichever media platforms they please. If the X suit moves into the discovery phase, there could be a whole lot more.

Editor’s note: If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, help is available. But what I really admire is her commitment to keeping her mental health in the limelight right alongside her gymnastics accomplishments. I learned to prioritize the trifecta of mental health: eating, sleeping, breathing. It also normalizes prioritizing our mental health, reducing the stigma, shame and isolation that surround mental illness. Your mental health is where health begins, and you deserve to take care of your mental health as much as Biles or any other Olympic athlete.

AdvertisementA recent Gallup survey found worker well-being slipped globally to 34% in 2023 from 35% the year before. Boosting worker well-being is good for employees, of course, but it's also good for the bottom line. And it's critical for boosting other measures of corporate and worker health — things like engagement on the job. A small number of business leaders review requests to keep the process simple and to respect worker privacy, she said.

Xavier University of Louisiana, which is opening a new medical school, will also receive a $5 million grant. When Vice President Kamala Harris gathered some of her closest advisers in the dining room of the Naval Observatory on Saturday, they had more choices than time. The advisers were there to present their findings on a list that still technically ran six deep to Ms. Harris, who had less than 72 hours to sift through it to make her final decision. One by one, the circle of her most trusted confidants ran through the pros and cons of each possible No. Tim Walz of Minnesota, Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona and Gov. And the upshot, Ms. Harris was told, was this: She could win the White House with any of the three finalists by her side.

Park your cash in a high-yield savings accountA common financial mistake people in their 20s make is letting their savings sit in a low-yield checking or savings account. Keep in mind that online banks offer most high-yield savings accounts, so you won't have access to a physical branch. Right out of the gate comes Tim Saler, a data consultant for Mr. Trump’s campaign, who takes issue with the latest CBS News/YouGov poll showing Ms. Harris ahead of Mr. Trump by one point nationally and running very close to Mr. Trump in the key battleground states. Without this manipulation, President Trump would be maintaining a 51-49 lead in their Aug. 4 survey. As a result, we adjust our data to align with known benchmarks, a process known as weighting. Weighting a survey by factors like age and race is quite standard and is a basic matter of good research practice. Pollsters have robust and friendly debates over the best ways to keep a poll from over- or under-sampling people of a certain party.

According to experts, while it can be costly, new windows can provide significant benefits like lower outside noise and better energy efficiency for the entire home. Wood windows have a traditional look that can be styled with just about any color. “You just need to keep them clean.”The only minor difference between vinyl and wood windows regarding maintenance is sealing and painting. Alexander says that if you have wood windows, they should be sealed or painted if they are exposed to rain or snow. According to experts, a window’s insulating value is called its U-factor, and lower numbers have the best insulation for energy efficiency.
