The esteemed group: The Bills, Buccaneers, Chargers, Chiefs, Saints, Seahawks, Steelers, Texans and Vikings. Can Darnold continue his resurgence against a Texans defense that ranks third-stingiest in yards allowed and second in sacks through two games? Saints’ legitimacyIt seemed premature to get excited about the Saints’ 47-10 trouncing of the Panthers in Week 1, given Carolina’s issue. And is a Saints defense that has held opponents to just 14.5 points per game equally as legit? That is how we know Vice President Harris would make an excellent Commander-in-Chief, while Mr. Trump has proven he is not up to the job," they added. More than 700 former national security and military officials endorsed Kamala Harris for president over Donald Trump in the 2024 election in an open letter published Sunday by National Security Leaders for America. "President Trump is the only President in the modern era not to get our country into any new wars." Sunday's endorsement comes after 111 Republican former national security and foreign policy officials endorsed Harris in a letter Wednesday, saying that Trump is "unfit to serve again." Since then, the vice president has received endorsements from various high-profile Republicans, including Dick Cheney, former vice president to George W. Bush.

Fears of a US-China war have further been stoked by Beijing turning more hostile in its territorial disputes with Japan and US allies in the South China Sea. "By 2027, the Navy will be more ready for sustained combat," she said. The admiral aims to have 80% of US naval forces ready to deploy and fight anytime. North Korea fired multiple short-range ballistic missiles on Wednesday toward its east coast, South Korea and Japan said, days after Pyongyang unveiled a uranium enrichment facility and vowed to beef up its nuclear arsenal. “We strongly condemn North Korea’s missile launch as a clear provocation that seriously threatens the peace and stability of the Korean peninsula,” the JCS said in a statement, vowing overwhelming responses to any further provocations. About 30 minutes after its first missile notice, Japan’s coast guard said North Korea fired another ballistic missile. The North fired several short-range ballistic missiles last Thursday, the first such launch in more than two months, which it later described as a test of a new 600-mm multiple launch rocket system. South Korea’s JCS has said the launch might have been to test the weapons for export to Russia, amid intensifying military cooperation between the two countries.

Week 2 of the NFL gave us some shocking upsets, an AFC thriller and some spectacular individual performances. That allowed the Chiefs to stay within a field goal — as did Cincinnati’s offensive struggles. After a Mahomes interception, Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow was strip-sacked, and the fumble was recovered for a score on the next possession. Is the Saints’ offense really this good? The Saints scored touchdowns on five straight possessions to open the game, sandwiching long drives around explosive plays.

The 16 teams that lost last week look to bounce back with performances that reflect improvement and promise. Rodgers completed 13 of 21 passes for 167 yards, a touchdown and an interception, and the Jets managed just 68 rushing yards. Stroud continued to impress in Week 1, throwing for 234 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. After the game, Williams vowed, “I will be better.” Excelling against a talented Texans defense, however, could prove challenging.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes said he will not use his platform to endorse a presidential candidate, despite Donald Trump saying the Super Bowl champ's wife, Brittany Mahomes, is a "big MAGA fan." Trump responded saying in a phone interview Wednesday on "Fox and Friends" that he is "not a Taylor Swift fan." She's a big Trump fan," he said. That was not the first time Trump mentioned Brittany Mahomes, who has become close with Swift after the pop star began dating Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.
