He went on to tell the court that the little girl was left alone when her mother went to work, took the other children to school and even when she went to stay with relatives over Christmas. He alerted family members and later that day social services attended the property, where they found the girl in a drawer. When confronted, the mother “did not show any emotion and appeared blasé,” the social worker told the court in a statement. ☆ Nuuk International Airport opens: Traveling to Greenland is about to get easier

CNN —The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) is seeking an arrest warrant for Myanmar’s military leader for crimes committed against the persecuted Rohingya minority group. As a result of the violence, the ICC estimated that more than one million Rohingya were forcibly displaced from Myanmar — many fleeing to neighboring Bangladesh. Min Aung Hlaing is the leader of Myanmar’s powerful military, known as the Tatmadaw, which seized power in 2021. But even If the warrant is approved, the ICC could be limited in its jurisdiction as Myanmar is not among the 123 member states of the court. However, member countries could be obligated to transfer Min Aung Hlaing into ICC custody if he enters their territory after the warrant is issued.

CNN —After quite possibly saving a child’s life on Sunday, Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Tershawn Wharton has invited the young fan to a game. Wharton caught the child after he fell headfirst from the Bank of America Stadium stands following the Chiefs’ 30-27 win against the Carolina Panthers in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Sunday. The child loses his footing before falling headfirst from the stands, which are roughly 10 feet above the ground. It is not clear from the video whether a railing gave way, or whether the particular area that the young fan was leaning over was not covered by a fence. But I just had to kind of, like, push him into the stands a little bit to make sure he didn’t hit too hard,” he continued.

CNN —The Pentagon is unlikely to use all of the billions of dollars authorized by Congress to arm Ukraine before President Joe Biden leaves office, according to two US officials and three defense officials. For months, the US has run into the limits of its ability to replenish its own weapons inventories, which limited what the Biden administration has been able to send Ukraine. In September, Biden committed billions of dollars in military aid to Ukraine as President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the White House. The US announced a $1 billion military aid package for Ukraine that same day. But the value of aid packages quickly dipped, as the stockpiles of weapons and equipment the Pentagon was able to send Kyiv dwindled.

New York CNN —A federal judge on Wednesday tossed a defamation lawsuit brought by an Arizona man targeted by conspiracy theorists against Fox News, accusing the right-wing network and former primetime host Tucker Carlson of spreading false narratives about the January 6 attack. As part of the bogus narrative, several right-wing personalities, including Carlson, claimed a former Trump supporter, Ray Epps, was a federal agent who helped incite the attack. “Following the dismissals of the Jankowicz, Bobulinski, and now Epps cases, FOX News is pleased with these back-to-back decisions from federal courts preserving the press freedoms of the First Amendment,” Fox News Media said in a statement. Fox had sought the lawsuit’s dismissal for some time, arguing that its hosts and guests were simply raising questions when they suggested Epps had instigated the January 6 attack. A representative for Epps did not respond to a CNN request for comment.

CNN —The Los Angeles Dodgers have reportedly agreed to a $182 million contract with two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell, according to multiple outlets, including The Athletic and the Associated Press. His average of 11.2 strikeouts per nine innings is the highest ever recorded in major league history. Snell is also one of only seven pitchers to have won the Cy Young Award in both the American League and National League, having collected the award in 2018 with the Tampa Bay Rays and in 2023 with the San Diego Padres. The Dodgers reportedly made a move for Snell following his success in San Diego, but the Seattle native eventually ended up with the San Francisco Giants in mid-March of 2024.
