The new documentary “Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story” reconstructs his life and career, ultimately rendering a sensitive, harrowing and incredibly human portrait of the man as actor, advocate, husband and father. “You don’t overcome grief, you live with grief,” Bonhôte said in a recent interview with CNN. Reeve also worked with the American Paralysis Association, which soon became the Christopher Reeve Foundation. Ettedgui, who identifies himself as “definitely a Superman kid,” was moved by Reeve’s obvious effect on those around him, but was also “struck” by his internal journey. 24-year-old American actor Christopher Reeve plays the comic-book hero as he mends a broken railway track in a scene from the film "Superman."

Anyone can place a bid for Infowars, including its dubious dietary supplement store, and use the property for any reason. Nothing would prevent him from continuing to broadcast under a new owner, although he would still need to pay off the debt he owes the Sandy Hook families with any earnings he may receive. There’s also nothing stopping Jones from continuing to speak about the Sandy Hook massacre or the families. The only way Jones would be prevented from speaking about Sandy Hook entirely is through a separate settlement with the families. But even if all of Jones’ personal intellectual property is sold off along with Infowars, it’s unlikely to make more than a small dent in the amount he owes the Sandy Hook families.

Officials were searching for a runaway bull in southern Massachusets early Monday after a herd of the animals jumped a fence at a rodeo event a day earlier. “Community members should exercise extreme caution and not approach the bull if found. The animals escaped their pens, ran through the parking lot and jumped over the fence, before fleeing south towards nearby woods, according to Coleman. One bull was caught just after fleeing, and six were corralled some three miles away by local police and firefighters, along with environmental police, workers from the rodeo and staff from the New England Rodeo in nearby Norton, Coleman said. No injuries were reported but the rodeo, which was being held at a mall, was under investigation, he added.

The Bank of Japan left interest rates unchanged last week and indicated it was not in a hurry to hike them again. That decision, coming just days after the Fed's 50 basis points rate cut, put a pause to the yen's sharp gains this month. With Japan closed for Autumnal Equinox Day, the main driver of trade was expectations around further Fed rate cuts and the gains those have spurred in equities, commodity currencies and other risk assets. The Fed's rate cut "appears to have calmed market fears of a U.S. recession", Goldman Sachs said in a note. Meanwhile, the majority of economists polled by Reuters anticipate two more 25 bps rate cuts at the Fed's final two meetings this year.

Russian intelligence services are building up their presence in Mexico for spy operations targeting the United States, a return to Cold War tactics by an increasingly aggressive regime, according to U.S. officials and former intelligence officers. The Mexican Embassy and the Russian Embassy did not respond to a request for comment. “Part of this is a function of the fact that so many Russian intelligence officers have been kicked out of Europe. Those are Russian intelligence personnel, and they keep an eye very closely on their opportunities to have influence on U.S. opportunities and access,” VanHerck said. Russian intelligence could conceivably also take advantage of Mexico’s proximity to target Putin’s political enemies inside the U.S., former intelligence officers said.

But Wall Street was mostly clueless this week when it came to predicting how big a rate cut the Fed would deliver on Wednesday. The jumbo half-point cut the Fed ultimately rolled out was not at all what traders expected a week ago. Powell: Fed officials ‘left the size of the rate cut open’ ahead of September meetingIn a closely watched speech at the Fed’s annual economic symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, last month, Powell declared “the time has come” to cut interest rates. That data was apparently enough to spur some Fed officials to reconsider their position. “But we do not expect Fed officials to be intentionally opaque,” said Husby.

The news comes after a major report earlier this year revealed the Navy's biggest projects, including new Virginia-class submarines, were facing severe delays of up to three years. Absent today's intervention, I have zero confidence that Navy shipbuilding will get back on track." The Navy attributed shipbuilding delays across its top programs to COVID-19's impact on the workforce and supply chain. New York CNN —Self-service kiosks at McDonald’s and other fast-food chains have loomed as job killers since they were first rolled out 25 years ago. The kiosks show the unintended consequences of technology in fast-food and retail settings, including self-checkout. Chains are now experimenting with artificial intelligence at drive-thru lanes, and the experience with kiosks holds lessons for them. It raised a familiar refrain that those workers would be replaced by technology, such as self-service kiosks. Fast-food chains and retailers need to do a better job communicating what the potential benefits of kiosks and self-checkout are to consumers and employees, Andrews said.

Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller said Friday he supported a half percentage point rate cut at this week's meeting because inflation is falling even faster than he had expected. A week before the Fed meeting, markets were overwhelmingly pricing in a 25 basis point cut. Along with the decision, individual officials signaled the likelihood of another half point in cuts this year, followed by a full percentage point of reductions in 2025. Fed Governor Michelle Bowman was the only Federal Open Market Committee member to vote against the reduction, instead preferring a smaller quarter percentage point cut. "I was a big advocate of large rate hikes when inflation was moving much, much faster than any of us expected," he said.

CNN —Almost three decades ago, Richard Hays, a United Methodist minister and the soon-to-be dean of Duke Divinity School, wrote what quickly became the go-to traditionalist Christian argument against same-sex marriage. Fuller Theological Seminary, where Christopher Hays is a professor, also demands agreement with a faith statement that opposes same-sex marriage. Even as support for same-sex marriage has plateaued in the last few years, recent surveys from Gallup find that more than one in five Gen Z Americans identify as LGBTQ, and nearly 90% of Americans under 30 years old support same-sex marriage. The reversal from Hays certainly will not settle the debate among Christians when it comes from same-sex marriage. But I hope it makes opponents of same-sex marriage at least pause and wonder — is there a faithful path forward that makes room for people like me?

On Wednesday, the Federal Open Market Committee announced an interest-rate cut of 50 basis points, the first cut Americans have received in over four years. Trump sought to use his presidential power to appoint members to the Fed board who supported his unorthodox views of the central bank. “Given that sleep is highly visible as a risk factor, non-stigmatizing, and highly treatable … we suggest study of sleep as a risk factor and critical intervention target for youth suicide,” said senior study author Dr. Rebecca Bernert, a suicidologist and founder of the Stanford Suicide Prevention Research Laboratory in California, via email. Suicide is a leading cause of death among children ages 10 to 14, a group that also has high rates of sleep disturbance, according to the study. And sleep disturbances “have emerged as an evidence-based risk factor for suicidal behaviors” among adults, regardless of whether a person has depressive symptoms, the authors said. At that time, guardians answered questionnaires about their child’s sleep health, which included factors such as problems with falling or staying asleep, waking up, excessive sleepiness, sleep-disorder breathing, excessive sweating during sleep, and behaviors that occur when someone partially awakes from deep sleep. Supporting your child’s healthAt all ages, your kids need good nighttime habits that support healthy sleep, Willard said.

It’s also a sign of confidence from Fed officials that inflation has come under control just enough to comfortably dial back policy. Typically, in the lead-up to a Fed policy decision, Wall Street and economists are in alignment on what to expect. But investors’ wagers for a half-point cut ramped up on Monday; and as of Tuesday afternoon, federal funds futures contracts were pricing in a 63% chance of a jumbo rate cut, up from around 30% on Thursday, according to the CME Group. As inflation skyrocketed in 2021 and 2022, American employers pumped out jobs and the unemployment rate declined to half-century lows.
