In one ledger obtained by the Oversight Committee and published in the report, the Secret Service was charged $1,160 for a room at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C. for agents protecting Eric Trump on March 8, 2017. On Nov. 8, 2017, another ledger shows that the Secret Service was charged $1,185 to lodge agents protecting Donald Trump Jr. The Trump Organization and the Secret Service did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Trump Organization properties overall charged the Secret Service more than $1.4 million for agents’ accommodations when traveling to protect former President Trump, according to figures first reported by The Washington Post. “The Secret Service received authorization for additional flexibility for expenses during protective missions, including per diem expenses above the government rate,” Maloney said in her letter to the Secret Service.
While there is limited pressure overall as many businesses refinanced in 2020 and 2021 when funding was cheaper and investor appetite stronger, high-yield companies with immediate financing needs have to find the right time to tap investors, corporate bankers say. Adding loans and revolving-credit facilities, speculative companies have maturities of around $1.47 trillion through 2027, ratings firm Moody’s Investors Service said last week. And the high-yield bond market isn’t closed, it has just become more expensive, bankers said. Movie theater chain AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. on Friday said that its subsidiary Odeon Finco PLC priced a $400 million bond. Bankers said they have received few calls from triple C-rated companies in recent months looking for maturity extensions.

Ten weights were found inside the fish, with eight of them weighing 12 ounces and two weighing 8 ounces.
Hundreds of University of Florida students held protests this week criticizing the anticipated appointment of Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., to lead the school. Sasse has said that as university president, he would do his best to represent the views of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer students. But for some, his candidacy has called to mind the university’s anti-LGBTQ history and the extent to which many of them feel it continues to sideline their needs and experiences, four LGBTQ students told NBC News. The university’s LGBTQ+ Affairs office, for example, has a high staff turnover rate, he said. He said a “silver lining” of the protests was that many LGBTQ students made their concerns more widely known.
The Oath Keeper, Terry Cummings, testified that there were "a lot of firearms cases" in the hotel room when he dropped off his weapon at the Comfort Inn in Arlington, Virginia, on Jan. 5, 2021. Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes is on trial for seditious conspiracy alongside four other Oath Keeper associates: Kelly Meggs, Kenneth Harrelson, Jessica Watkins and Thomas Caldwell. Another Oath Keeper previously told the court that Rhodes tried unsuccessfully to reach Trump on the night of Jan. 6. Under cross examination, Cummings said multiple times that he never heard of any plans for the Oath Keepers to enter the Capitol.

"I'm sorry for what happened on January 6," Dawn Munn said, according to MacFarlane.

Upping the catch-up contribution anteNosystem Images | E+ | Getty ImagesCurrently, retirement savers age 50 or older can make so-called catch-up contributions to their retirement savings. The Senate proposal differs by allowing people from age 60 through age 63 make the extra $10,000 catch-up contribution.

Here’s the deal: The British pound tumbled to a record low against the US dollar on Monday as investors around the world dumped UK assets. For the first time in history, the pound is on track to hit parity with the dollar before the end of the year. Part of the pressure on the pound comes from the strong dollar, which has gotten a boost from the Federal Reserve’s interest rate hikes. But the pound is also falling against the euro, signaling broader concerns about the UK’s financial health. “This is a painful reminder that economic policy is not a game,” said Torsten Bell, chief executive of the Resolution Foundation, a think tank that focuses on boosting living standards for low- to middle-income households.

The Goldman representative disputed that characterization, saying the number of executive TV appearances has more than doubled over the past year. This piece has been adapted from "American Psychosis: A Historical Investigation of How the Republican Party Went Crazy,” by David Corn. Some reporters feared Goldwater supporters were about to storm the stage and physically attack the governor. The Republican Party — those then in control of it — thought otherwise. They were guided by what Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway once called “alternative facts.” For many of the Capitol Hill assailants, Trump and his paranoia had become a theology. Excerpted from "American Psychosis: A Historical Investigation of How the Republican Party Went Crazy."
Republican lawmakers are sending migrants to Democratic cities. AOC called the moves "crimes against humanity" and likened it to "trafficking." Ron DeSantis took credit for sending two planes to Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts. In recent weeks, other Republican lawmakers have sent migrants to cities like Washington D.C. and New York. "We're sending migrants to her backyard to call on the Biden Administration to do its job & secure the border."
