That’s a strange place to find a bull market. After a horrible year for Big Tech in 2022, optimism has returned as ChatGPT has made AI the it-thing in Silicon Valley. That brought an end to the bear market that began in January 2022, since a 20% lift from recent lows is generally accepted as the definition of the start of a bull market. However, there is no exact definition — and the current market situation is a bit more nuanced than the typical bull market-bear market binary. The silver liningEntering a bull market lifts investor sentiment, which could propel upward momentum in markets.

If there wasn't enough banking jargon to blind you, it's time to learn a new piece of it: Welcome to the industry's era of the "criticized loan." "Criticized loans could be paying or performing but a loan could be singled out because of its collateral." At Bank of America, criticized loans to office building projects rose to $3.7 billion out of $19 billion in office loans. But office buildings represent only a quarter of the bank's commercial real estate loans, and all CRE is just 7% of the bank's total loans and leases. "It's almost impossible for us to see office [losses] more than 4 or 5 percent of office loans.

[1/3] Newly elected leader of the Scottish National Party, Humza Yousaf (centre), signs the nomination form to become First Minister for Scotland, with his proposer Shona Robison and seconder Neil Gray, at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh. MSPs will vote on Mr Yousaf's nomination to be Scotland's sixth First Minister later today. Yousaf had been expected to offer his leadership rival, whom he only defeated by only about 2,000 votes, a more senior role. During his leadership campaign, Yousaf had said he would depart from Sturgeon's "inner circle" style of leadership in favour of a "big tent" approach. Yousaf said on Tuesday that Shona Robison - a close friend of Sturgeon - will serve as his deputy first minister.
Newly appointed leader of the Scottish National Party (SNP), Humza Yousaf, speaks following the SNP Leadership election result announcement at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh on March 27, 2023. Humza Yousaf on Monday was elected the new head of the Scottish National Party, promising in a speech to bring the party together, support citizens with the cost-of-living crisis and deliver independence from the United Kingdom. He is slated to assume political leadership in Scotland following his nomination in the Scottish Parliament on Tuesday. He told BBC Scotland that his leadership style compared to his predecessor Nicola Sturgeon would be "less inner circle and more big tent." If approved on Tuesday, he will be the country's sixth leader since the establishment of the Scottish parliament in 1999.
Mansplaining is still often a man's game, but it's something women can do, too. Studies suggest that mansplaining is more than a workplace frustration; it can have serious consequences both for companies and careers. Insider spoke with three workplace experts for advice on how managers and employees can deal with the office mansplainer. And if the mansplaining continues, you might need to shut it down in real time. Without an ally, it can be hard to put a stop to mansplaining as it's happening, Woolley said.
In North Carolina, party activists are seeking to punish Republican Senator Thom Tillis for his support for same-sex marriage rights. North Carolina State Representative Mark Brody, who supports censuring Sen. Tillis, says it is better to address differences directly. Law, who served as a senior member of Trump's 2016 and 2020 campaigns in Nevada, and the county party did not respond to requests for comment. Although Tillis retains support among the party establishment, Jim Womack, a county party chair, says the Senator’s critics are gaining strength. “The North Carolina Republican party will eventually be decentralized to the point where the grassroots will actually run the party,” Womack said.

"I didn't expect that," world number 71 Lehecka, who made his breakthrough last year by reaching the Rotterdam semi-finals as a qualifier, told reporters. Hopefully we'll go one more step, step after step. "To be in those moments and be cool under pressure, play well the right points, serve well to close the match, it's a good sign of a good player," Auger-Aliassime said. "Yeah, I'm sure for those reasons he'll be a good player in the future." Up next for Lehecka is a potential meeting with third seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, his conqueror in the Rotterdam semi-finals, if the Greek gets past Jannik Sinner.
College football is one of the hottest properties in broadcasting. The Big Ten Conference recently made a deal for more than $1 billion a year with several networks, mostly to air its football games. The College Football Playoff is expected to grow substantially from its current $470 million-a-year deal when it expands to 12 teams after the 2024 season, and further increase the value under its next deal two years later. So when the National Collegiate Athletic Association said last week that increasing its revenue is a top goal, it may not have seemed like a major challenge. But that’s not the way things work in big-time college football, whose leading conferences legally aren’t required to share a dime of their burgeoning riches with the NCAA.
Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren , one of the chief drivers of the consolidation that is rapidly transforming college football’s most powerful conferences, will return to the NFL as the president and chief executive of the Chicago Bears. Warren made a big impact in only about three years after taking over at the Big Ten from longtime commissioner Jim Delaney in 2020. He saw the conference through a period of rapid change, spearheaded a dramatic move west with the addition of UCLA and Southern California and shored up his league’s financial future by striking the largest television deal for an athletic conference in college sports.
The Perfect Job for Jim Harbaugh

Look, my friends, I am not trying to be the athletic director of the University of Michigan, which, admittedly, is one of the top schools in all of Ann Arbor. Readers of this column know that this grumpy Badger doesn’t really care what happens to the Wolverines, especially now that Wisconsin has gone and hired their own fancy coach, and will soon return to greatness atop the Big Ten West, the guppy tank of Midwest Power 5 football.
Sen. Ted Cruz entered Monday night ecstatic about the TCU Horned Frogs' chances. #frogsby90," Cruz wrote on Twitter before the game. Led by Quarterback Stetson Bennett, a former walk-on player, Georgia stomped TCU 65-7. According to ESPN Stats and Info, the win is the largest margin of victory in a bowl game in college football history. Georgia enters next year with another chance at history: becoming the first team of the polling era to win three straight national titles.
Yes, thanks for asking: I am terrified thinking about Saturday’s college football playoff semifinals: Michigan vs. TCU and Georgia vs. Ohio State. For this grumpy, grudge-carrying Wisconsin graduate, the idea of Big Ten rivals Michigan and Ohio State winning their semifinals and then meeting Jan. 9 for a national championship is a bone-chilling nightmare.
Many are upset that the Black former superstar is leaving a Historically Black University where his leadership could continue to provide a solid foundation for young Black athletes. Sanders proved his ability in his first coaching job by making the Jackson State Tigers the best team among HBCUs. In his final game at Jackson State, Sanders will lead the Tigers against North Carolina Central University in the Cricket Celebration Bowl on Dec. 17 in Atlanta. At each previous stop in Saban’s head coaching journey (University of Toledo, Michigan State University, Louisiana State University and the NFL’s Miami Dolphins), he may well have disappointed some players who signed on hoping he would stay. His son, Jackson State star quarterback Shedeur Sanders, is expected to do just that and follow his father.
Wanting a special master was right out of Trump’s stalling, obstructing and using the time to play the victim circus act. Team Trump could not muster the strength to jump over the first hurdle. Now that we know that Trump’s defense had no ground to stand on the first standard of proof, what about the other three? Well, the Trump Team could fare no better with the second or third one. Team Trump’s arguments were a sideshow.

College Football’s Epic Debate—for Fourth Place
  + stars: | 2022-11-30 | by ( Laine Higgins | ) www.wsj.com   time to read: 1 min
Once upon an early December, a fierce debate roiled college football about which team was most deserving of the national championship. Was it a Southern California team loaded with talent? Maybe even Ohio State, a Big Ten heavyweight with one loss to a team from That State Up North. If this sounds familiar, it’s because, back in 1972, those three teams were vying for superiority on the final week of the college football season. Now it’s 2022, and the sport is arguing over the same teams—but this time, USC, Ohio State and Alabama are after something a bit less glorious.
CNN —The Big Ten Conference has fined Michigan State University $100,000 and suspended Spartans cornerback Khary “KJ” Crump for the first eight games of next season following the post-football game fight against rival Michigan in the players’ tunnel at Michigan Stadium on October 29. Michigan State finished its regular season 5-7. At the time, Michigan football Head Coach Jim Harbaugh said two of his players were “assaulted,” and one of them may have a broken nose. Seven Spartans football players, including Crump, were charged last week, according to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office. 4 in the nation, defeated Michigan State 29-7 before the scuffle.

A Doug Mastriano rally in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, featured praying and wading into culture wars. National and state Republican donors and groups have offered little support to his candidacy. "You can't get your message out one-on-one to voters," Josh Novotney, a Pennsylvania GOP strategist, told Insider. "It's a different tactic and I pray it works," Joe Vichot, chairman of Lehigh County's GOP, told Insider.
Four Michigan State University football players were suspended from the team after they appeared to have been involved in an off-field altercation with a rival, the institution said Sunday. Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh alleged during the postgame news conference that 10 Michigan State players were part of a group in which people grabbed, pushed and assaulted a single Michigan player in a Michigan Stadium tunnel. Tucker said school officials were cooperating with Big Ten, Michigan and law enforcement officials, with the possibility of "additional student-athlete participation in the altercations" prompting action. Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel said at the news conference that law enforcement is investigating. Local law enforcement officials, including the University of Michigan Division of Public Safety & Security, have not responded to requests for comment.
