In July 2022, three months after graduating, I started a full-time software engineering job at Amazon after applying and interviewing for the role. I enjoyed working remotely at AmazonWhen I started working at Amazon, the job was fully remote. I went into the Toronto office a couple of times, but it was super empty. I visited the Vancouver office twice when the company flew me out for social events. Amazon asked employees to RTO and, in some cases, relocate to a new cityI liked remote work and not having to waste time commuting.

I have six children between the ages of 5 and 11, and I've told them I won't pay for college except in very limited circumstances. I'm actively encouraging my kids to consider other options and how much ROI they'll get from college. One of the most interesting responses I've gotten from my kids is asking how they can make money now. Not paying for college might force them to be more financially responsible, but only if they choose — or try — to pay for college themselves. I want them to learn to be financially responsible and viable by earning money, with or without college.

With only days to consider a range of contenders, Ms. Harris and her team were inundated with unsolicited advice — much of it public — about whom she should pick. Andy Beshear of Kentucky, who has also been vetted by the Harris team, appeared at a Harris campaign fund-raiser in Chicago. Mr. Biden was at home in Wilmington, Del., over the weekend while Ms. Harris interviewed prospective running mates in Washington. A White House spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment about whether he had spoken to Ms. Harris as she finished her deliberations. Once she chooses, Ms. Harris will spend much of the next week with her running mate.

Audrey Depraeter-Montacel, the global beauty lead for consulting firm Accenture, says the popularity of Korean skin care in the U.S. has made way for a Japanese beauty resurgence. Iason SarrisIndeed, Japanese brands like Shiseido have been in the U.S. since 1965, known for their minimalist packaging and formulas rooted in traditional Japanese beauty practices. Skin care experts at the Shikō collective say Japanese beauty offers consumers more simplified, nurturing beauty routines. Industry experts told NBC News that the Covid pandemic brought about a revolution in interest in skin care routines. While consumers seem eager to find more simplified skin care routines, Depraeter-Montacel noted the tension between more “discreet” Japanese brands and the celebrity-focused American market of viral skin care.

"A 50 basis point Fed cut in September is clearly justified as the labor market is now showing clear signs of softening," said Yung-Yu Ma, chief investment officer at BMO Wealth Management. The firm, which has long been saying the Fed will need to cut aggressively this year, expects another 50 basis point cut in November by a 25 basis point cut move in December. A basis point is 0.01 percentage point. The S & P 500 lost more than 2.5% and Treasury yields plummeted, sending the policy-sensitive 2-year note down more than a quarter percentage point to 3.91%. Earlier this week, another product contending for the future of AI companionship made its debut: an eavesdropping necklace called Friend. AdvertisementSchiffmann's original vision for an AI hardware device was a pendant that would act as a more standard-fare AI assistant called Tab — he once described it as a "wearable mom." Of the many AI hardware devices that launched in recent months, such as Humane's AI pin, Meta's smart glasses, and Rabbit's AI-powered R1, Friend is the most personal contender. In fact, on the day Friend launched, a competing AI hardware founder named Nik Shevchenko released a diss track — as any self-respecting 23-year-old AI hardware founder would do — insinuating that Schiffmann stole his idea. (It would not be the first time that Shevchenko built an open source competitor that closely resembled another AI hardware device.
