Mary O’Connor came out of retirement to become Tampa’s police chief, the city said earlier this year.
The police chief of Tampa, Fla., resigned on Monday, weeks after she flashed her badge to get out of a traffic stop, officials said.
The former chief, Mary O’Connor , was off duty and riding in a golf cart with her husband in Oldsmar, a city in Pinellas County just west of Tampa, on the night of Nov. 12, Tampa police said.
In a body-cam video of the traffic stop, a sheriff’s deputy said he stopped the couple because their golf cart wasn’t tagged.
