Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has partnered with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) to launch last week a pilot Wildlife Confiscations Network in Southern California. Southern California is considered an epicenter for trafficked wildlife, much of it from Asian countries. Criminal networks and syndicates have built illegal wildlife trade into a multi-billion dollar a year criminal enterprise, Ashe said. The silver was Canada's first medal in women's beach volleyball at a Pan Am Games. A silver medal came with a bonus prize with every fighter in the finals having secured a quota spot for the Paris Olympics. In the women's 75-kilogram Canada's Tammara Thibeault added Pan Am gold to her world and Commonwealth Games titles with a unanimous 5-0 decision over Panama's Atheyna Bylon. "Out of all the tournaments I've been to, I've been able to capture gold and I was missing Pan Ams," said Thibeault. That contribution helped power Mexico into second place on the medal table with 35 gold and 80 total medals.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — A judge removed himself from the Young Dolph murder case Friday after he was ordered to do so by a Tennessee appeals court, which questioned whether he could be impartial to a man charged with killing the rapper two years ago. Shelby County Criminal Court Judge Lee Coffee asked the court clerk to assign a new judge in the high-profile case. Johnson and Cornelius Smith have pleaded not guilty in the killing of Young Dolph, whose real name was Adolph Thornton Jr. Coffee said he made the call “in court, on the bench, with another case before the Court,” according to the appeal ruling. The appeals court reversed Coffee's denial of the recusal motion and said that a new judge should be reassigned.

Oct 25 (Reuters) - First-half goals from Ferran Torres and Fermin Lopez helped Barcelona secure a 2-1 home win against Shakhtar Donetsk in their Champions League Group H tie on Wednesday night. The goal was initially ruled out for a hint of an offside in the build up, but a VAR check confirmed that Lopez was onside when he struck from inside the box. Barca then missed several chances to stretch out their lead, with Lopez hitting the post twice more and having two goals ruled out by VAR for tight offsides. I'm happy for the win and for helping out with a goal," man of the match Lopez told Movistar Plus. "Xavi told us that winning today would be key to get closer to securing a place in the knock-outs.

Injuries and Clasico no excuse for Barca, says Xavi

Oct 24 (Reuters) - Barcelona cannot use their injury crisis and their upcoming league game against Real Madrid as excuses for a poor performance in a midweek Champions League clash against Shakhtar Donetsk, coach Xavi Hernandez warned on Tuesday. Barcelona top Champions League Group H with six points after winning their first two games without conceding a goal. Despite their more comfortable position in their Champions League group, Xavi said Wednesday's home clash with Shakhtar was vital, telling reporters: "The three points tomorrow against Shakhtar are key for our objective. "This is the Champions League, the biggest competition there is for clubs and for us getting nine points from nine is very important. "I remain optimistic that some of them will make Saturday's game (against Real)," Xavi said.

The auction could start a new chapter for the 113-year-old company, which has been owned by Venezuela for almost 40 years. Washington and Venezuela's political opposition wanted Citgo to anchor the country's economic future under a democratically elected government. The sale could become the biggest court auction ever held. Motiva, Valero and Citgo's ultimate parent, Venezuela's state oil company PDVSA, did not reply to requests for comment. "Citgo will be strategic for Venezuela in the next 20-25 years, not only as a refining company, but with an expanded role," director Medina said.

Ozempic Boom Is an Opportunity for Health Insurers

WSJ’s Daniela Hernandez breaks down the science of how diabetes drugs work—and how they could change psychiatry. Photo illustration: Elizabeth SmelovYou would think a new class of high-price weight loss drugs taken by millions of Americans would be a problem for health insurers. But it is more complicated than that: Some insurance giants actually stand to profit from the Ozempic craze. The industry has been calling out the costs of GLP-1 drugs, which are used for both diabetes and obesity. But federally supported Medicare and Medicaid still don’t cover the drugs for obesity, and much of the commercial market is self-insured.

REUTERS/Agustin Marcarian/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsA look at the day ahead in European and global markets from Wayne Cole. With one war already raging in Europe, a new conflict in the Middle East was bound to rattle the markets. If the U.S. tightens enforcement of sanctions, CBA analysts estimate around 0.5-1.0% of world oil supplies could be affected, which would push Brent atop $100 a barrel. A sustained rise in oil prices would be an unwelcome blow to inflation but also a tax on consumers, so the implication for interest rates isn't straightforward.

GENOA, Italy, Oct 7 (Reuters) - A late strike by Christian Pulisic earned AC Milan a 1-0 win at promoted Genoa that put them top of Serie A on Saturday but the game ended in chaos as both keepers were sent off and striker Olivier Giroud went in goal for the visitors. U.S. international Pulisic netted in the 87th minute with a half-volley from near the penalty spot after he was brilliantly set up by Yunus Musah to give Milan the lead. But the three points were hanging by a thread as the game took a chaotic turn when Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan saw red for a foul on Caleb Ekuban late in stoppage time and Giroud took his spot in goal. "I like to think that what Giroud did is part of our mentality," coach Stefano Pioli told DAZN. "Pulisic wanted to go in goal and perhaps he had already done it, but I told him that he was too short.
