An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) statement said the strike by fighter jets on Jabalia, Gaza's largest refugee camp, had killed Ibrahim Biari. Dozens of Hamas combatants were in the same underground tunnel complex as Biari and were also killed when it collapsed in the attack, Conricus said. Palestinian health officials said at least 50 Palestinians were killed in the refugee camp and 150 wounded. Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem denied any senior commander was there and called the claim an Israeli pretext for killing civilians. He has vowed to press ahead with plans to annihilate Hamas after several inconclusive wars dating back to the militant group's 2007 takeover of Gaza.

Between those two positions were "a variety of possible permutations that we're looking at very closely now, as are other countries," Blinken said. It may involve international agencies that would help provide for both security and governance," Blinken said. Oct 26 (Reuters) - GOJO Industries, the maker of Purell hand sanitizer, said on Thursday it would refinance its debt after sources told Reuters that negotiations about the sale of the company to paper and building products manufacturer Georgia-Pacific fell through. The suitor that made the most progress in the sale process for GOJO was Georgia-Pacific, a company owned by Koch Industries, the sources said. Silver Point, Georgia-Pacific and Koch Industries did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The company expanded into skincare and invented Purell, an alcohol-based hand cleaner which dries on its own, in 1988. The company launched Purell in the consumer market in 1997.

SPREAD TOO THINA major drawback for potential green hydrogen users is that there has been too little of the stuff available to allow for much real world testing. Yet these train systems have occupied the time and attention of hydrogen system developers that may have been better spent elsewhere. And as heat pumps have been making rapid inroads into home heating markets across Europe and elsewhere in recent years - at a fraction of the cost of a potential hydrogen set up - it is clear that household hydrogen applications will remain scarce. LADDERING UPThe most promising areas for potential hydrogen use have been highlighted by industry analyst Michael Liebreich in his so-called Hydrogen Ladder. Rather than attempt to deploy hydrogen against lower-cost options in homes and transport systems, Liebreich suggests that the hydrogen industry pursue demand opportunities in helping heavy industry to decarbonise.

Oct 24 (Reuters) - Chip design startup SiFive has laid off around 20% of its staff, or about 130 people, the company said on Tuesday. SiFive, based in Santa Clara, California, builds chip designs based on an open chip architecture known as RISC-V, and competes against the recently public Arm Holdings (O9Ty.F), . Like Arm, SiFive builds the underlying designs chips are based on, but not the chips themselves. The company is scaling back its effort to offer customized designs for customers, beyond the standard blueprints that are available. Technology giants such as Qualcomm (QCOM.O) and Alphabet's Google (GOOGL.O) have embraced the underlying RISC-V technology.

Australia deploys more aircraft, personnel to Middle East

REUTERS/Ibraheem Abu Mustafa Acquire Licensing RightsSYDNEY, Oct 25 (Reuters) - Australia said on Wednesday it had deployed two more military aircraft and a "significant number" of defence personnel to the Middle East to help support its citizens there if the ongoing war between Israel and militant group Hamas escalates. Australia sent a Boeing C-17 aircraft and an air refueler plane that has the capacity to carry passengers, taking the total to three, Defence Minister Richard Marles said. He did not disclose the total number of personnel deployed and where the aircraft would be based due to security reasons but said they would not be based in Israel. "It is a significant number of personnel, though, and they're there to support the aircraft and to support what that aircraft might ultimately have to do," Marles told Channel Nine. Australia on Wednesday also unveiled a new A$20 million ($12.7 million) military package for Ukraine, taking its total aid to A$910 million since Russia invaded in February 2022.

CNN —An off-duty pilot who was riding in the cockpit of an Alaska Airlines flight en route to San Francisco on Sunday is facing dozens of attempted murder charges after he tried to shut down the plane’s engines mid-flight, authorities say. “The fire suppression system consists of a T-handle for each engine; when pulled, a valve in the wing closes to shut off fuel to the engine,” Alaska Airlines said in a statement to CNN. The flight crew detained the suspect and the plane was diverted to Portland International Airport, the Port of Portland said in a statement. After Alaska Airlines acquired Virgin America in 2016, Emerson became a first officer with Alaska and worked about three more years to become a pilot for the airline, according to the airline statement. “Throughout his career, Emerson completed his mandated FAA medical certifications in accordance with regulatory requirements, and at no point were his certifications denied, suspended or revoked,” Alaska Airlines said in a statement.
