That also means that AI data centers are growing fast — as is the demand for them. That in turn is set to drive up the demand for cooling systems for data centers. We believe the demand for liquid cooling for AI data centers should sustain for the following 5-10 years, driven by continuous iteration of AI chips and rising heat dissipation requirements," Jefferies said in a Sept. 10 report. Cooling services have been said to improve power efficiency in data centers and, by extension, cost efficiency. American companies in China are experiencing historically low business confidence and poor profits amid U.S.-China tensions and a slowing Chinese economy. Firms have also lost market share to Chinese competitors which have received more government support, the U.S.-China Business Council added. Their struggles in China have also been felt by EU businesses, according to an EU Chamber of Commerce in China report released on Wednesday. On how the U.S. government could support their firms in China, nearly half of AmCham respondents suggested a reduction of tariffs on Chinese goods. Foreign direct investment into China fell by 29.6% during the January to July period compared to a year ago, according to China's Ministry of Commerce.

Hong Kong CNN —For decades, Chinese workers have wrapped up their working lives at relatively young ages: 60 for men and as early as 50 for women. The announcement sparked immediate widespread discussion – and backlash – across Chinese social media. Some social media users appeared encouraged that the changes weren’t more drastic and included some flexibility. Major protests erupted in France in 2023 in response to a government attempt to raise the retirement age from 62 to 64. Even for those of working age, employment remains a steep challenge following the pandemic and a raft of government-led industry crackdowns in recent years.

At the height of their careers, the Gao Brothers created provocative sculptures of Mao in a country notoriously sensitive about its former ruler’s legacy. Due to the “deteriorating environment” in China, Gao Zhen relocated to New York two years ago when his son, an American citizen born in the US, reached school age, Gao Qiang said. “Before he set off, his friends and family — myself included — had all reminded him to consider whether it was safe to go,” Gao Qiang said. “Our father’s death was a devastating disaster for our family.” Gao Zhen told the Southern People Weekly, a once-outspoken news outlet, in 2010. Alibaba has completed a three-year regulatory "rectification" process following an antitrust fine it received on charges of monopolistic practices in 2021, China's market regulator said on Friday. In 2021, China's SAMR fined Alibaba 18.23 billion yuan ($2.6 billion) as part of an anti-monopoly investigation into the tech giant. Ant Group itself also underwent a regulator-supervised rectification process, with most of the major issues resolved by last year. Chinese technology giant Huawei is set to challenge Nvidia with a new artificial intelligence chip amid U.S. sanctions that had sought to curb the Chinese tech giant's technological progress, according to a Wall Street Journal report. U.S. regulators in 2022 had slapped restrictions on Nvidia to stop the firm from selling AI chips, including the H100, in China, citing national security concerns. Huawei has been at the center of U.S. sanctions aimed at securing U.S. networks and supply chains. Huawei was then placed on a U.S. trade blacklist in 2019, which banned U.S. firms from selling technology — including 5G chips — to the Chinese tech giant. In 2020, the U.S. tightened chip restrictions on Huawei, requiring foreign manufacturers using American chipmaking equipment to obtain a license to sell semiconductors to Huawei.
