The final debris from the Titan submersible's implosion was recovered by US Coast Guard officials. More presumed human remains were also found from within the debris and will be examined. The Coast Guard said that the recovery and transfer of remaining parts was completed last Wednesday, and a photo showed the intact aft titanium endcap of the 22-foot (6.7-meter) vessel. Additional presumed human remains were carefully recovered from within Titan's debris and transported for analysis by U.S. medical professionals, the Coast Guard said. The Coast Guard has recovered remaining debris from a submersible that imploded on its way to explore the wreck of the Titanic, killing all five onboard, deep beneath the Atlantic Ocean's surface, officials said Tuesday. The salvage mission conducted under an agreement with the U.S. Navy was a follow-up to initial recovery operations on the ocean floor roughly 1,600 feet (488 meters) away from the Titanic, the Coast Guard said. It said Tuesday that the recovery and transfer of remaining parts was completed last Wednesday, and a photo showed the intact aft portion of the 22-foot (6.7-meter) vessel. Investigators believe the Titan imploded as it made its descent into deep North Atlantic waters on June 18. The Coast Guard previously said it recovered presumed human remains along with parts of the Titan after the debris field was located at a depth of 12,500 feet (3,800 meters).

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Israeli-American pitcher Dean Kremer will make his first career playoff start for the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday night while thinking about family members in Israel, where war has been declared following a deadly incursion by militant group Hamas. Kremer said he has no hesitation about pitching Game 3 of the AL Division Series against the Texas Rangers, a game the Orioles have to win to extend their season. “I still want to pitch, but, I mean, it’s going to be in the back of my head,” Kremer said Monday. Though he was born and raised in Stockton, California, Kremer is the son of Israeli parents and identifies strongly as Israeli himself. Kremer is 13-5 with a 4.12 ERA in 32 starts this season, which included both of the Orioles' clinching games.

Many investors expect that could be the capitulation event equities need to bottom out before rebounding. "If you get down to five and a quarter all hell's gonna break loose," Rob Ginsberg, managing director at Wolfe Research. The yield on the 10-year Treasury has spiked sharply to about 4.8% this week, about 1 whole percentage point above where it was in mid-July at around 3.7%. In fact, it won't take much for the positive narrative to start to take hold in markets, Hogan said. Hogan anticipates the S & P 500 could rise to 4,800 by year end, about 13% above where it is currently.

The 10-year U.S. Treasury yield has hit its highest level in 16 years, but a host of economists and money managers and investors expect it can go still further. If the 10-year yield broke out convincingly above 5.25%, Ginsberg said it could next move above 7% — although he'd be "shocked" to see yields that high. He assumes that even a 10-year yield above 5% will cause something to go wrong in one corner of the market or the economy. "It's gonna be a challenging environment for investors, for stock investors," Ginsberg said. However, he expects the 10-year yield could stabilize around 4.5% and 5%.

The price of bitcoin bounced Tuesday, reversing losses from the previous day that were driven by fears around FTX liquidations. On Monday, bitcoin dipped below the key $25,000 support level for the first time since March. The rebound could be fueled in part by investors who were betting against the crypto asset scrambling to cover short positions, in other words, by a short squeeze. Fairlead Strategies' Katie Stockton said weakened momentum in the intermediate term could make it difficult for bitcoin to see a durable recovery. This week, investors get the August consumer price index and producer price index readings on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

A lot of people have recently weighed in on legacy admissions, the preferential treatment given to the children of alumni in the college application process: President Biden. Officials at numerous colleges — some defending the practice, others calling to ditch it. The Education Department even opened a civil rights investigation last month into Harvard University’s legacy admissions policy. But what about the students who have benefited from the practice themselves, and were accepted by elite colleges in part because their parents are alumni? In the Opinion Video above, five recent university graduates, all legacies, wrestle with the advantages they enjoyed in the college admissions process.

Stocks are coming off a losing week as they suffer through the summer doldrums, but it could be a buying opportunity for investors, according to chart analyst Katie Stockton. She sees it as "a corrective phase, something that should yield a buying opportunity." The S & P 500 is down more than 4% in August, as concern over higher rates for longer and a slowdown in China hamper investor sentiment. That's significant, she explained, because it gives investors a time frame for what to expect from this corrective phase. For the broad market S & P 500 , she takes the next key level of support from the index's February resistance of 4,195.

"That's a normal correction, when bull markets get overheated like this," said Dan Wantrobski, technical strategist at Janney Montgomery Scott. When a stock, for example, falls below its 200-day moving average, it is seen as a potential sign of more downside pressure. Earlier this month, the index fell below the commonly watched 50-day moving average. Fairlead Strategies' Katie Stockton is closely watching a popular trend-following gauge known as the moving average convergence/divergence indicator, or MACD — which recently flipped to a sell signal after reverting to a buy in November. Pressure from yields Technical indicators may help analysts detect where the market is headed, but macroeconomic factors remain the major action drivers influencing sentiment.

Bitcoin tumbled to finish the week after many weeks of stillness in the market, and chart analysts say it's possible this could be just the beginning. Bitcoin also broke its 200-day moving average of $27,300, which could signal an impending downtrend. A range emerges between $25,000 and $30,000 Bitcoin has been here before. The $25,000 level was a key resistance threshold from last summer through March of this year after bitcoin briefly touched $30,000 in its banking crisis-fueled rally. Fairlead Strategies' Katie Stockton puts the next downside target a little higher at $25,200, with a secondary target level of $20,600.

"Over 90 percent of the excess energy on earth due to climate change is found in warmer oceans, some of it in surface oceans and some at depth." Put simply, the greenhouse gases serve to trap more heat, some of which is absorbed by the ocean," Kirtman told CNBC. In addition to the daily record on July 31, the monthly sea surface temperature for July was the hottest July on record, "by far," Copernicus said. CopernicusThese record sea surface temperatures arise from multiple factors, including the El Niño weather pattern, which is currently in effect. "These climate variations occur when sea surface temperature patterns of warming and cooling self-reinforce by changing patterns of winds and precipitation that deepen the sea surface temperature changes."

Standing before friends and family, Dr. Partridge first unwrapped a Movado watch from Mr. Hilbrant-Partridge. Then, Dr. Partridge suddenly walked out to retrieve his own surprise for his fiancé: a golden retriever puppy. “I thought I was having a dream,” said Mr. Hilbrant-Partridge, 33, the senior director for customer experience at Beam, a wellness company. The two, who live in Cambridge, Mass., had longed for a second dog to join their older golden retriever, Nahla, for quite some time — especially Mr. Hilbrant-Partridge. The breeder not only expedited Dr. Partridge’s request, but also deflected Mr. Hilbrant-Partridge’s occasional queries concerning the availability of new puppies.
