Outbound travel from China is set to receive a much-anticipated jolt as "Golden Week" bookings show changes in where and why Chinese people are traveling. While most Golden Week travelers are choosing mid-tier accommodations, growth for five-star hotels in Europe is almost three times higher in Europe than in Asia-Pacific, company data showed. Seeking quiet and concertsAs Chinese tourists continue to move beyond organized sightseeing tours abroad, more are seeking to celebrate Golden Week in off-the-beaten-path locations, especially in Asia and Europe, according to Trip.com's data. In Europe, bookings in Spain rose 260% to the city of Granada and 144% to Seville, according to Trip.com. Hong Kong is expected to welcome as many as 1.2 million mainland Chinese visitors during the coming Golden Week holiday, up 10% from last year, according to the city's Travel Industry Council.

Richard Branson, the billionaire founder of Virgin Group, has turned his money and focus toward a very personal new project: DyslexicU, the first free online university for dyslexic thinkers. Branson said that while he wasn’t interested in school subjects such as geometry and applied mathematics, dyslexia helped him focus on his strengths. “If you’re a dyslexic person, you can go on and take one of the courses and learn more about how incredibly successful dyslexic people have used their dyslexic thinking to turbocharge their careers,” Branson’s co-founder Kate Griggs told NBC News. The boxes can reproduce pre-recorded video as well as a live feed, and any 4K camera, including an iPhone, can be used as the source. The “ink” of this 3D printer is a special cement-based material called Lavacrete, a proprietary mixture designed for strength, affordable scale, and printability. The hotel units will range between $200 and $450 per night.

The budget motel chain Motel 6 is being acquired by the parent company of Oyo, a hotel operator based in India. The New York-based investment firm Blackstone , which owns Motel 6's parent company G6 Hospitality, announced Friday that the deal would be an all-cash transaction worth $525 million. The transaction will also include the sale of the Studio 6 motel brand, which caters to customers seeking extended stays. Oyo, which launched in India just over a decade ago, has been expanding its footprint in the U.S. over the past few years. Under the deal, Oravel Stays, which owns Oyo, will acquire G6 Hospitality.
