The price increase was approved Saturday at a National Council meeting, where 900 delegates were present to discuss the Girl Scouts’ future. They voted to hike dues to $45 for the 2026 membership year and again to $65 in 2027. Dues will remain at $25 for 2025, which has been the same price for the program for eight years. Membership dues are the Girl Scout’s largest source of revenue, generating $38 million in 2023 from its nearly 2 million total members. “It’s an enormous increase,” said Sally Bertram, a 30-year troop leader with the Girl Scouts of Western Ohio.

Experts noted then, as they note today, that high costs and complex logistics make mass deportation more complicated than campaign promises suggest. Immigrants deported from the United States arrive in Guatemala City on an ICE deportation flight on February 9, 2017. The organization also argues that mass deportation would make more jobs available for Americans. The economic impact of mass deportation, he says, would amount to “utter disaster.”“We Americans, we, the country, we, in our communities, would be significantly damaged,” he says.

The prosecution also plans to call witnesses who said they saw Allen at the trail. Allen, 52, dressed in a long-sleeve button-down shirt and khakis, shook his head at times during McLeland's opening statement. One key piece of evidence — video retrieved from Libby's cellphone that was found underneath Abby's body — showed the apparent suspect. As the trial opened this week, the defense lawyers withdrew a request for jurors to be able to visit the crime scene, which prosecutors had opposed. Defense lawyers, however, may still get to argue during the trial why certain evidence is admissible.

Seven years ago, the bodies of two teenage girls were discovered near a hiking trail outside the small Indiana town of Delphi. Allen worked at a CVS in Delphi and had processed photos for Libby’s family without charging them, her grandparents have said. Investigators found the images on Libby’s cellphone and released them days after the girls' bodies were discovered in a bid to identify a possible suspect. Allen, who was interviewed by authorities in 2017 and admitted being at the trail the day the teens vanished, was arrested in 2022. In a request for a search warrant in 2017, an FBI agent said the girls' bodies appeared to have been moved and staged.

That changed in 2023, when Texas went 12-2 in coach Steve Sarkisian’s third season and appeared in the College Football Playoff for the first time. Like Texas, Georgia spent much of the last 30 years boasting a past national championship and a campus in a recruiting-rich part of the country, with little modern success to show for it. The quarterback of the Bulldogs’ back-to-back championship teams was not a former high-star recruit but he did grow up in Georgia. In the decade before Sarkisian’s hiring, Texas recruiting classes finished with an average rank of 10.8 in the country; in three recruiting classes under Sarkisian, Texas has averaged a ranking of 4.6. In the eyes of Texas fans, the Longhorns won’t qualify as fully back until they win the program’s first football national championship since 2006.

CNN —Universal Orlando Resort announced Thursday morning that its highly anticipated new theme park, Epic Universe, will open on May 22, 2025, just before Memorial Day weekend. “I anticipate that this new Epic Universe theme park will easily crack 6 million plus visitors during its first 12 months of operation,” Speigel told CNN in an email. “Universal Studios theme parks have been on a huge roll since Harry Potter was introduced in 2010.”Speigel said this park will ratchet up the Orlando theme park market, where Universal and Disney are the biggest players. US efforts to produce semiconductor chips will continue regardless of who wins the election. AdvertisementNo matter who wins the presidential election this November, President Joe Biden can rest easy knowing one thing: The US's chip manufacturing push isn't going anywhere. The US has seen its share of overall chip production fall from 37% of the world's supply in 1990 to 12%. While many factories remain under construction, the federal funding has already helped boost US chip production. According to a report published last year by the trade and lobbying group Semiconductor Industry Association and Oxford Economics, the US semiconductor industry will face a shortage of 67,000 workers by 2030, including technicians, computer scientists, and engineers.
