Neptune Resources, which makes some tianeptine products, has issued a nationwide recall, according to an announcement posted this week. Products that contain tianeptine are sold under several brand names, including Pegasus and Zaza, the CDC says. The FDA has issued a warning urging consumers not to purchase or use tianeptine products due to serious risks including seizures, loss of consciousness and death. In recent years, at least two deaths related to tianeptine products marketed as dietary supplements have been reported to the FDA, data shows. Nine people said they had used tianeptine previously; six ingested tianeptine along with other substances, including alprazolam, kratom, tramadol, trazodone and gabapentin.

FDA testing of South Moon eye drop samples showed that they were contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia complex, a type of bacteria that could cause antibiotic-resistant eye infections. “South Moon, Rebright and FivFivGo eye drops are unapproved drugs and should not be available for sale in the U.S.,” the FDA said in the announcement. No adverse events have been reported specifically related to the South Moon, Rebright or FivFivGo products, the FDA said. However, there have been reports of possibly fake Lumify eye drops resulting in eye irritation, pain and infection. Consumers should beware of online retailers selling copycat products and should buy eye products only from reputable retailers such as licensed pharmacies.

As I sit here typing, I’m wondering what I should make of these study results. CNN: Are you surprised by the findings in this study — a 16% higher mortality from all causes and a 34% higher mortality from cardiovascular disease for people who predominantly sit at work? Studies have also shown that even light activity to break up the periods of prolonged sitting can reduce that risk. People would do a lot to change that habit, as they should when they sit for prolonged periods at work.

That’s why the study’s authors wondered what the relationship with hearing loss and tinnitus might be — especially since many games also have loud sudden sounds such as gunshots or engines revving. “This can result in temporary hearing loss or ringing in the ears,” she added. CNN —Long-term use of ADHD medications can raise the risk of cardiovascular disease in both children and adults, according to a study published Wednesday in JAMA Psychiatry. The researchers found that people taking ADHD medications had a higher risk of hypertension and arterial disease, and the risk increased over time. Careful attention to the heart health of patients with ADHD is not new, experts say. “I don’t want to minimize this,” he said, highlighting the importance of screening for heart health in ADHD patients before starting treatment and checking in regularly.
