REUTERS/Andrew Kelly/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW YORK, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs (GS.N) is weighing the sale of a part of its wealth business catering to high net worth clients, it said on Monday, as it shifts its focus back to serving the ultra-rich. The purchase aimed to broaden Goldman's client list beyond the ultra-rich, but the unit has remained a small part of the bank's wealth business. Goldman's private wealth unit oversees $1 trillion in assets for ultra-high net worth clients. The bank plans to grow its core wealth business serving ultra-high net worth clients, reiterating aspirations from its investor day in late February.

The September WTI contract expires on Tuesday and the more active October contract gained 78 cents to $81.44 a barrel. As well, "the dollar seems to be taking somewhat of a breather, which would be providing some support," he said. A weaker dollar makes oil purchases less expensive for holders of other currencies, sparking demand. Also supporting crude is the buoyant price of heating oil, which is in focus as the northern hemisphere approaches darker months, said John Evans of oil broker PVM.

The September WTI contract expires on Tuesday and the more active October contract gained 73 cents to $81.39 a barrel. Supply is tightening, however, with OPEC+ crude exports set to fall a second month in August, said Stefano Grasso, a senior portfolio manager at 8VantEdge in Singapore, citing preliminary data from shiptracking firm Kpler. "Unless there is a recession and demand slows or drops, OPEC+ is in control." Meanwhile, Chinese refiners ramped up refined products exports in July, drawn by strong export margins.

Zhang Yaoyu, PCI's global head of LNG trading, declined to comment on the company's traded volume, but said trading was part of the company's overall strategy. By 2026, Chinese companies are expected to have contracted LNG supplies of more than 100 million tons a year. That could mean a surplus of up to 8 million tons that year, according to consultancy Poten & Partners, or a deficit of 5 million to 6 million tons based on estimates from pricing agency ICIS. Qatar, which will be China's largest supplier for 2026, however, offers traditional LNG contracts that are restricted to a single destination or country. These openings in the market and a more liberalised domestic gas market have also prompted smaller Chinese gas distributors and importers to expand into the trading space.

In March, Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed in a China-brokered deal to end a diplomatic rift and reestablish relations following years of hostility that had endangered regional stability in the Gulf, as well as in Yemen, Syria and Lebanon. The U.S. is a partner in the Arrow project, which was developed jointly by the Israel Missile Defence Organisation and the United States Missile Defense Agency. The Germany deal, which would be Israel's biggest ever defence sale, follows a European arms build-up in response to Russia's war in Ukraine. While Patriot and IRIS-T cover the medium layer of air defence, Arrow-3 - in whose production Boeing Co (BA.N) is also involved - offers protection for the higher layer. Israel's Army Radio said the signing ceremony with Germany on the Arrow-3 sale was expected to take place in November.

A VLCC oil tanker is seen at a crude oil terminal in Ningbo Zhoushan port, Zhejiang province, China May 16, 2017. In a surprise move, China's central bank marginally cut key interest rates on Tuesday, after a broad array of data highlighted intensifying pressure on the economy, mainly from the property sector. There are concerns China may struggle to meet its growth target of about 5% for the year without more fiscal stimulus. On Tuesday, Barclays cut its forecast for China's 2023 gross domestic product growth to 4.5%, citing a faster-than-expected deterioration in the housing market. Still, sentiment on China is souring, added PVM's Evans.

Aug 14 (Reuters) - Oil prices declined more than 1% on Monday as concerns about China's faltering economic recovery and a stronger dollar weighed against seven weeks of gains on tightening supply from OPEC+ output cuts. A stronger dollar pressures oil demand by making the commodity more expensive for buyers holding other currencies.
