In a Tuesday interview with CNBC's Jim Cramer, Aaron Jagdfeld, CEO of generator company Generac , warned that the pressure on the power grid is only going to increase, burdened by a massive crop of new data centers and more severe weather. Although the U.S. is adding more solar and wind power, Jagdfeld noted that these sources are "intermittent by their nature," and the increased demand for technology like artificial intelligence and electric vehicles will continue to weigh on the grid. Another deadly storm, Milton, hit Category 5 status on Tuesday and is predicted to ravage Florida's Tampa Bay region on Wednesday. I mean, the air temperatures are warming, the water temperatures are warming," Jagdfeld said. "We can debate what caused it, but I think the reality of it is the, the outcome is more extreme weather."

There might be another listener in the room at your doctor's appointments now or in the near future: ambient AI. Ambient AI is a technology that records and automates transcripts of conversations in real time — like a scribe. Over 15,000 patient visits were conducted "using this type of ambient AI technology to augment the documentation," he says. Seliby Perkins is prepared for patients to either decline the use of ambient AI during their visits or have a lot of questions about how it works. Prior to implementing ambient AI at TGH, the hospital set up an AI governance group with physicians, ethicists and experts in compliance, risk, privacy and security.

Tracking Hurricane Milton’s Storm Surge Risk Across FloridaAs Hurricane Milton approaches landfall in Florida this week, the National Hurricane Center is releasing a series of data sets to help warn the public of the risks. Storm surge is one of the deadliest aspects of a strong hurricane as it approaches land. Depending on exactly where Milton makes landfall, storm surge will broadly fluctuate. The Florida Keys are forecast to experience strong winds and storm surge mostly below six feet. Wherever Milton makes landfall, storm surge will come ashore, especially just ahead and south of the storm’s center, similar again to what occurred during Ian.

Attorney General Ashley Moody issued a stark warning to those who ignore evacuation orders. WFTSFlorida leaders still working to respond to damages from Hurricane Helene issued emphatic pleas to Tampa-area residents Sunday to heed evacuation orders, as Hurricane Milton is expected to strengthen and hit the state’s western coast by mid-week. “Nobody up here can save your life if you put yourself in harm’s way.”Officials expect storm surge, other flooding and high winds that knock out power, Scott said. With some roads still flooded from Helene, residents can expect a similar kind of storm surge from Milton – but this time with strong winds, Hillsborough County Sheriff Chad Chronister warned. Many people are still without cell phone service after Helene, Moody said, advising residents to buy a small AM radio and a couple of batteries.

Life-threatening storm surges are due to hit Florida's Gulf Coast this week with the arrival of Hurricane Milton, which is strengthening over the southern Gulf of Mexico and set to make landfall as a powerful Category 3 storm on Wednesday. The NHC issued a storm surge warning early Monday for Florida's Gulf Coast from Flamingo on the southern tip to the mouth of the Suwannee River, including Tampa Bay. A hurricane watch is in place along the same coastline, from Chokoloskee near Everglades City, to the Suwannee River, while a tropical storm watch is in place further west to Indian Pass. "A Storm Surge Watch means there is a possibility of life-threatening inundation, from rising water moving inland from the coastline," the NHC said. ET, Milton was about 195 miles west-north-west of Progreso, Mexico, and about 750 miles west-south-west of Tampa, with maximum sustained wind speeds of near 100 mph with higher gusts.

Hurricane Milton is expected to continue to develop rapidly as it soaks up its natural fuel, warm water in the Gulf of Mexico. It could be pushing out sustained winds of 145 mph by them, according to its projections, making it a Category 4 hurricane. Rain, strong winds and possible storm surges were expected to begin Tuesday night along Florida’s west coast, according to NBC News meteorologists. Up to 8 inches of rain was forecast, with storm surges of 6 feet and more possible for coastal cities, they said. By late afternoon Saturday, Tropical Depression 14 had become Tropical Storm Milton, according to the National Hurricane Center.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is running out of staff to deal with the potential devastation of Hurricane Milton as it barreled toward Tampa with wind speeds that reached 175 miles per hour. As of Monday morning, just 9 percent of FEMA’s personnel, or 1,217 people, were available to respond to the hurricane or other disasters, according to the agency’s daily operations briefing. To put that into context: Over the previous five years, one-quarter of the agency’s staff was available for deployment at this point in the hurricane season. The agency said Monday afternoon that it is well equipped to handle the strains. “FEMA is built for this,” said Leiloni Stainsby, the agency’s deputy associate administrator for response and recovery.

New York CNN —Even as Florida braces for another major hurricane, new estimates reveal Hurricane Helene caused up to $47.5 billion in losses for property owners. CoreLogic estimates Helene caused between $20 billion and $30 billion of uninsured flood losses. That dwarfs the firm’s estimate of between $10.5 billion and $17.5 billion worth of uninsured wind and flood losses. All told, CoreLogic calculates that Hurricane Helene caused between $30.5 billion and $47.5 billion in total wind and flood losses across 16 states. The vast majority of the damage from Hurricane Helene was from flooding, with wind causing just $4.5 billion to $6.5 billion of losses, according to CoreLogic.

A hurricane warning was issued for parts of Mexico's Yucatan state, and much of Florida's west coast was under hurricane and storm surge watches. It had maximum sustained winds of 160 mph (257 kph), the National Hurricane Center said. Its center could come ashore Wednesday in the Tampa Bay area, and it could remain a hurricane as it moves across central Florida toward the Atlantic Ocean. That would largely spare other states ravaged by Helene, which killed at least 230 people on its path from Florida to the Appalachian Mountains. The Tampa Bay area is still rebounding from Helene and its powerful surge.

The Cleveland Browns fell to 1-4 with a loss to the Washington Commanders on Sunday after yet another dispiriting performance by quarterback Deshaun Watson. After five games, Watson has thrown for only five touchdowns while tossing three interceptions. It has been a downward trend for Watson ever since he began playing for the Browns toward the end of the 2022 season. Even Watson’s former backup Flacco — who threw more touchdown passes than Watson in fewer games with the Browns last year — is playing better. Tropical Storm Milton rapidly intensified into a Category 1 hurricane Sunday with its path aimed at Florida, less than two weeks after Hurricane Helene made landfall in the state. The storm debuted as a hurricane Monday afternoon after producing sustained winds of 80 mph and continued to strengthen by drawing fuel from the Gulf of Mexico's sultry waters. Forecasters said Milton was likely to reach major hurricane status, denoting a Category 3, 4, or 5 storm Monday. It was pushing out maximum sustained winds estimated to be 80 mph, with some higher gusts, the hurricane center said, and moving east at 6 mph. Monthly Social Security checks aren't enough for most baby boomers to get by, further fueling a retirement crisis. A prenuptial agreement can be helpful, but it typically doesn't protect wealth built after the couple ties the knot, like retirement savings. Men's monthly retirement incomes are nearly $600 more than women's — $2,610 to $2,042 — and they're more likely to have a balance in a retirement account. Overall, divorced women like Clark see lower monthly retirement incomes than their male counterparts — and peers who have remarried.
