Nearly 13% of American households were food insecure in 2022. That means some 17 million families, or 1 in 8 U.S. households, struggled to meet their nutritional needs at some point in the year, according to a new report by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The prevalence was "significantly higher" in 2022 than in 2021, when 13.5 million households were food insecure, according to the USDA. Food insecurity is even more of a challenge for certain groups. More than 22% of Black families reported food insecurity in 2022, and more than 33% of single mother-led households reported food insecurity over the same year.

A smartphone with a displayed Intel logo is placed on a computer motherboard in this illustration taken March 6, 2023. The chipmaker was set to increase its market value by more than $10 billion, if gains hold. Bernstein analyst Stacy Rasgon said Intel's "AI story still seems marginal" and the "datacenter performance continues to suffer from significant headwinds". The company is under heavy pressure in the data center chip market from Nvidia, whose graphic processing units are used for training artificial intelligence models. Sales at Intel's data center business, which also houses its AI chip division, dropped 10%.

The actress Ali Stroker never thought she would write a book. “Growing up, I didn’t like reading,” said Stroker, who in 2019 became the first performer who uses a wheelchair to win a Tony Award. “Books didn’t have any characters I related to.”But when Stacy Davidowitz, the author of the middle-grade series Camp Rolling Hills, asked to interview her because a character she was working on had a disability and worked in theater, Stroker had an idea: What if they wrote a story together? “That’s what I always tell anybody who wants to do something they’re not sure they know how to do: Find somebody who does and collaborate with them,” Stroker, 36, who lives in Westchester County, said in a phone interview on the way to a rehearsal in Manhattan. Their partnership led to “The Chance to Fly,” a middle-grade novel published in 2021, and a sequel out this month, “Cut Loose!”

The new restrictions will also affect rival chips produced by Advanced Micro Devices (AMD.O) and Intel (INTC.O), according to analysts. In its filing, Nvidia said two of its modified advanced AI chips - the A800 and H800 - both of which it created for the Chinese market to comply with previous export rules, would be blocked for sale under the new rules. Nvidia declined to comment beyond the filing. Chips being built by Intel and Advanced Micro Devices that aim to compete with Nvidia will also be impacted. Intel declined to comment on the Gaudi 2 chip and said it was assessing the new rules.

Since the Ryder Cup began in 1927 there have been only two tied matches. There followed a series of terrifically close matches but only in 1989 at The Belfry did one finish level at 14-14 with Europe retaining the title having led 14-10 only to lose the last four singles. In cricket I think retaining the Ashes is a big thing. You have a completely new team, for instance, at the Solheim Cup, and they tied. Perhaps the best approach is that of US Solheim Cup captain Stacy Lewis, who reviewing the draw that was an effective defeat, decided to view it as a victory anyway.

More than 9 million merchants sell their wares on Amazon's marketplace and also supply it with steady streams of revenue. Amazon collects advertising fees for touting their products, fulfillment fees for delivery in addition to less specific "sellers' fees." Some merchants welcome the potential of relaxed seller and advertising charges, while others worry that completely dissolving Amazon's advertising services would harm their ability to reach shoppers. The FTC found that the company's fulfillment fees increased approximately 30% between 2020 and 2022. Dieterle relies on Amazon's fulfillment and advertising services to boost merchandise sales.

Carlota Ciganda's stunning win over Nelly Korda on the 17th hole gave Europe the point they needed to secure the Cup for a third consecutive tournament. Europe won the Solheim Cup in Ohio in 2021 and as defending champions needed 14 points to win, while the U.S. needed 14 1/2 points. We have created history yet again in the Solheim Cup. The Europeans, who trailed 4-0 after the first session on Friday, had shown great heart in fighting back, said Pettersen.

CNN —Team Europe retained the Solheim Cup on Sunday, staging a remarkable late fightback to tie 14-14 with Team USA at Finca Cortesin Golf Club in Andalucia, Spain. For European captain Suzann Pettersen, who made nine playing appearances at the Solheim Cup, it pens another happy chapter in the her glittering story at the tournament. It came down to Carlota [Ciganda], in Spain, in her own hands,” Pettersen told Sky Sports. “I have many feelings right, I’m so happy just to do this for Suzann, for Spain,” Ciganda said. A former top Wells Fargo executive avoided prison time for her role in the bank’s sham accounts scandal, after a federal judge on Friday instead sentenced her to six months of home confinement and three years of probation. She is also ordered to pay a $100,000 fine and perform 120 hours of community service. The former executive, Carrie L. Tolstedt, who was head of retail banking at Wells Fargo, was the only high-ranking executive at the bank to be criminally charged for its misdeeds. She plead guilty this year to one criminal charge of obstructing a bank examination. Prosecutors had sought a 12-month prison sentence, saying in a legal filing that imprisoning Ms. Tolstedt, 63, would be a “general deterrence to other executives who might find themselves tempted to skirt the truth.”Ms. Tolstedt’s lawyers had pressed for probation, citing similar sentences in other cases and invoking Ms. Tolstedt’s “lifelong charitable works.” Both the prosecution and the defense also cited Ms. Tolstedt’s health issues, the details of which had been redacted from the public versions of legal filings, as a factor favoring leniency.
