Welcome to the online version of From the Politics Desk, an evening newsletter that brings you the NBC News Politics team’s latest reporting and analysis from the campaign trail, the White House and Capitol Hill. Plus, White House correspondent Monica Alba reports on Kamala Harris' move to out some distance between herself and Joe Biden. “I’m one or two interviews from being a regular on Fox News,” Walz said at a campaign stop in Valencia, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday. Two of Trump’s most prominent ads of the election cycle raise Kamala Harris’ support for the state underwriting gender-reassignment surgeries for inmates, including undocumented immigrants. He went back to the White House and watched the violence unfold.

GREEN BAY, Wis. — In the weeks following the vice presidential debate, Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz has been sounding more like the aggressive campaigner who got the role than the buttoned-up figure he’s cut since joining the ticket. Dressed in khakis and a navy Harris-Walz sweatshirt Monday, Walz delivered some of his sharpest attacks yet against former President Donald Trump. “I’m one or two interviews from being a regular on Fox News,” Walz said at a campaign stop in Valencia, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday. Before then, he had been almost completely missing on TV since becoming the Democratic vice presidential nominee and avoiding answering questions from the media. In the last few weeks, Walz has been barnstorming swing states, appearing on multiple media platforms, and sharpening his attacks against the Trump-Vance ticket.

DirecTV still provides bars, restaurants, small businesses and hotels with game access — but it no longer has the exclusive rights. As a condition of that deal, EverPass included the right to build its own commercial streaming connection for “Sunday Ticket,” bypassing third-party licensing. Sports bars concerned about having all of their TVs show games without a delay probably would opt for the DirecTV product. 3) Certain commercial establishments are using YouTube’s “Sunday Ticket” and paying residential prices (about $500 per year) instead of the higher business rates.

CLEVELAND — The baseball gods work in the shadows, scripting moments and matchups and sequences that we couldn’t begin to fathom. Take, for instance, the night of June 26, when Matthew Boyd just so happened to flip on a Cleveland Guardians game to gauge the pulse of the team desperate for his services. But in late June, shortly before Noel arrived, he suffered an elbow injury that the Guardians have kept discreet. “I’m like, ‘No, I’m just not hitting well, Dad,’” Fry said. After years of pushing, everything looks ready for Saudi Arabia’s billion-dollar move to become a major force in tennis to take off — with one major hitch. The Ministry of Sport of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi Tennis Federation (STF) and the WTA Tour then announced a three-year deal to host the tour finals. These moves raised Saudi Arabia’s tennis profile, but its potential new tournament at the start of the season was seen as the most important of its tennis investments — and its most divisive. It would cement Saudi Arabia’s place at the center of the sport, bringing with it an extensively criticized human rights record. Saudi Arabia’s moves into tennis have roiled the organisations behind the Grand Slam tournaments.

And this is a matchup that could happen again, in two months, thanks to the expansion of the College Football Playoff. Ohio State had the game’s only turnover. Since these teams first met 66 years ago, Ohio State won the first nine matchups, but Oregon has claimed the last two. In previous eras, Saturday would have effectively served as a knockout game for the loser’s chances of advancing to the College Football Playoff. But Saturday’s back-and-forth result was an example of why the expansion of the playoff this year — to 12 teams — could endure as a good thing.

This is the story of how the marathon has changed, told by some of the people behind the technological revolution. Marathon running is done individually but succeeds best when athletes work in packs, either with official pacemakers or using each other to share workloads and draft.
