Companies Coterra Energy Inc FollowNov 4 (Reuters) - Shares of shale oil and gas producer Coterra Energy fell as much as 8% on Friday after the company cut its estimate of proven oil reserves, a key measure of future production growth. Coterra, which formed a year ago through the merger of Cimarex Energy and Cabot Oil & Gas, said proved reserves on its books will drop roughly 15% to 20% year-over-year at December 31, 2022. The decline was driven by a roughly 32% to 36% decline to gas reserves in its Marcellus shale properties in the Eastern United States that came with the Cabot acquisition. Rival U.S. shale oil producer EOG Resources said oilfield costs could increase by 10% next year, on top of a 7% increase in 2022, as inflation continues to snarl the energy industry. CNN —SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy — a towering, three-pronged vehicle that is the most powerful operational rocket in the world — returned to the skies on Tuesday for the first time since mid-2019. Since that first test mission, SpaceX has launched only two other Falcon Heavy missions, both in 2019. SpaceX’s workhorse Falcon 9 rocket, on the other hand, has launched nearly 50 missions so far this year alone. With each Falcon Heavy launch, the rocket puts on a dramatic showing back on Earth. After Tuesday’s mission, the company only attempted to recover two of the Falcon Heavy rocket’s first-stage rocket boosters.
[1/2] Starship prototypes are pictured at the SpaceX South Texas launch site in Brownsville, Texas, U.S., May 22, 2022. Billionaire Elon Musk's SpaceX has sought for years to send its towering next-generation rocket system into orbit from the company's private launch facilities in Texas, where it has only launched prototypes of Starship's upper half some 6 miles (10 km) high to demonstrate landing attempts. The December mission will test the entire system for the first time, involving the company's 230-foot (70-meter) Super Heavy booster to lift the 160-foot (50-meter) Starship spacecraft into orbit. NASA in 2021 picked SpaceX's Starship to land humans on the moon around 2025 for the first time since 1972. That mission, under a roughly $3 billion contract, requires several spaceflight tests in advance that could delay the 2025 moon landing mission.

CNN —SpaceX said Wednesday that it has booked yet another mission around the moon for a wealthy thrill-seeker on its forthcoming Starship spacecraft. He declined on Wednesday to share any financial information about the upcoming Starship mission. It’s not clear when the first crewed Starship mission will take off, however. But Starship is far bigger than anything that SpaceX — or any other rocket developer — has ever built. It’s expected to have more thrust than both NASA’s Saturn V rocket, which powered the moon landings of the mid-20th century, and the space agency’s new moon rocket, called SLS, or Space Launch System.

Under the deal, two Saudi astronauts will ride SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule to the space station for a roughly weeklong stay early next year, the sources said. Officials with the Saudi Space Commission, Riyadh's space agency founded in 2018, were not immediately available to comment. The Saudi astronauts will join two previously announced Americans, retired NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson and race car driver and investor John Shoffner, the sources said. For Axiom and other space companies, cutting deals with foreign governments is seen as vital to sustaining a business centered on putting people in space. Axiom's astronaut flight business is crucial experience for the company's broader goals of deploying its own private space station by mid-decade.
