France said on January 5 that it would send the AMX-10RC armored vehicle to Ukraine. The "tank" vs. "armored vehicle" debate is a long and often contentious one, but AMX-10RCs are armored reconnaissance vehicles and not tanks, which usually have large-caliber main guns, heavy-duty armor, and tracks. Fighting there has become trench warfare, with incremental gains rather than sweeping armored offensives in which fast, armored scout vehicles excel. Armored vehicles are still vital on the battlefield, but an armored car may have limited utility against swarms of anti-tank missiles, attack drones, and smart artillery shells. What's important is that the West is sending armored fighting vehicles.

You don't have to watch "Yellowstone" to see and enjoy its new prequel "1923." But you do need two streaming services to watch both. "1923" is streaming on Paramount+, while past episodes of "Yellowstone" are on Peacock. The new series, "1923," follows a new generation of Duttons, the ranching family portrayed in Taylor Sheridan's smash hit "Yellowstone." The series was good enough and easy enough to watch without having seen "Yellowstone" that I am now watching "1923."
Coverage of the fighting often focused on the role of anti-tank missiles in stopping that advance. Many people believe the initial Russian offensive was halted in large part by Ukraine's diverse arsenal of anti-tank missiles. This was enough to pin down Russian armor, hit targets of opportunity, and engage Russian tanks from beyond the range their cannons. However, "delivering large volumes of fire against concentrated units is best achieved by artillery," Watling said. Many Russian tanks — and Ukrainian tanks, which are upgraded Soviet-era designs — are designed to fire anti-tank guided missiles from their cannons.

As investors prepare their portfolios for the new year, Goldman Sachs revisited laggard stocks that have the potential to outperform at the start of 2023. In the past, stocks that lagged the broader market tended to become leaders in the first quarter of the following year, according to Goldman Sachs. Goldman Sachs searched for laggards across several different criteria. Another stock that made the list includes Adobe , which Goldman Sachs considers a buy-rated quality stock trading at a reasonable valuation. In October, Goldman Sachs analyst Kash Rangan identified the name as a tech stock that is resilient in a downturn .
CNN —Fans of the TV blockbuster “Yellowstone” are in for a treat after Paramount + released a preview of the upcoming prequel “1923” – starring Harrison Ford and Oscar-winner Helen Mirren. The much-anticipated “1923” follows on the success of another “Yellowstone” spinoff – “1883” – which stars real-life spouses Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, along with Sam Elliott. It tells the story of how the family came to own Yellowstone ranch. Speaking with an Irish accent, Mirren, 77 – who won an Academy Award in 2006 for her role in “The Queen” – looks set to be a formidable opponent for those trying to take over her family’s land. In one scene in the trailer, she warns: “Men kill quick with a bullet or a noose.

If you're a retailer, and it's the holiday season, the thing you most want consumers to feel is a sense of urgency. Unlike last year, holiday shoppers don't need to fear empty shelves at the store. Walmart said it saw more shoppers with incomes above $100,000 ring up items in its stores, drawn in by less expensive groceries. He suggests investors position themselves in discounters like Walmart or Family Dollar or in luxury stocks like RH or Lululemon . She explained that many shoppers perceive Target as a place where "you go in for two items and come out $150 later."

Goldman Sachs named Amazon and Etsy as top stock picks heading into 2022 holiday season. Analyst Eric Sheridan expects growth will decelerate in the fourth quarter for retailers, as they deal with a longer and more promotional end-of-the-year period than normal. Companies are dealing with the effects excess inventory, and inflation squeezing consumers. Retailers are expected to offer double-digit holiday discounts this year, from 10% to 32%, particularly in electronics and computers, according to the note. Meanwhile, Etsy is leaning into its differentiated inventory, selling and gifting homemade and affordable products.
A few stocks that were unloved this year look set to turn the page heading into 2023, according to Wolfe Research. Wolfe Research searched for unloved names with buy ratings from less than 40% of analysts covering them. According to Wolfe Research, Carnival is expected to accelerate earnings by 647%. Pinterest has low short interest, just 5.5%, according to Wolfe Research. CNN —“Yellowstone” is one of those mysteries of the TV business, a series that generates major ratings but like the late comic Rodney Dangerfield, doesn’t always get much respect. Yet the new season of the Paramount Network series nevertheless reaches for what feels like a bit more relevance by making a sharper turn into politics, to go with all of the soapy doings around John Dutton, the character played by Kevin Costner, and his sprawling ranch. Granted, Montana politics has been a part of the series since the beginning. The new season of “Yellowstone” might even get a few more people talking about it. “Yellowstone” premieres its fifth season November 13 at 8 p.m.
Enter “Tulsa King,” a slim vehicle for Sylvester Stallone that’s a little too overtly designed as a mobster fish out of water. “There’s nothing left for you here,” says the new boss (“The Wire’s” Domenick Lombardozzi), noting, “We can’t just rewind the clock.”Conceptually, though, that’s exactly what “Tulsa King” does, or at least tries to do, exiling Dwight to the dreary confines of Oklahoma. “Tulsa King” turns out to be a rather odd mix of attributes, relying almost entirely on Stallone’s movie-star charisma as the show alternates between sitcom conventions and R-rated “The Sopranos”-flecked flourishes. In that sense, “Tulsa King” suggests maybe you can rewind the clock, just a little, even if you’re gonna fly a little bit lower now. “Tulsa King” premieres November 13 on Paramount+.
Taylor Sheridan cautioned execs that "Yellowstone" would be expensive when he pitched the series in 2017. He also expressed how he wanted full creative control, with no writers' room or executive notes. When in a room with then-Viacom (now Paramount) execs, Sheridan cautioned how expensive the show would be and expressed that he wanted full creative control. There will be no writers' room. "It's going to cost $90 million to $100 million," Sheridan said that he told them.
"Yellowstone" creator Taylor Sheridan pushed back against the notion it's a right-leaning series. It's not the first time he's contested that "Yellowstone" is a conservative TV show. "They refer to it as 'the conservative show' or 'the Republican show' or 'the red-state Game of Thrones,' " Sheridan said in an Atlantic profile published on Thursday. A New York Times opinion piece in August referred to the show as "a conservative fantasy liberals should watch." "People perceive all my stuff as red state, and it's the most ridiculous thing," he told The New York Times.
Yet the situation is not dire: tech job postings rose over 3% from September to October, data shows. In the tech industry, as of October, the unemployment rate stood at 2.2%, whereas the national unemployment rate was 3.7%. Andrew Flowers, the lead labor economist at Appcast, a software company that helps companies with their recruiting, said his "sense is that these factors hurt tech companies but not tech workers." "The outlook for tech occupations is much stronger than the outlook for the tech industry," he said. Artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and cloud-computing skills are the top in-demand skills in the tech industry, according to a September analysis by Indeed.
