Wall Street veteran Greg Fleming founded Rockefeller Capital Management almost five years ago. Wall Street veteran Gregory Fleming launched wealth fim Rockefeller Capital Management in 2018 with the goal of hitting $100 billion in assets by 2023. If anything, the market turbulence has led to more inbound interest from clients, Fleming told Insider. He added that there is still potential to convert more wealth management clients into advisory clients and vice versa. For us, a lot of it is about the fit with the Rockefeller global family office," he said.
Gambling companies competing to build a casino in Manhattan, one of the industry’s most coveted untapped markets, face skepticism from officials who would need to approve projects in the heart of the city. Real-estate and casino developers are pitching several sites in midtown Manhattan, including on the top floors of the Saks Fifth Avenue across from Rockefeller Center and in the very heart of Times Square. It’s vital to be near the city center to draw the right mix of tourists and wealthy clients, they said.

Strategists see China's markets easily scoring double-digit gains this year. The case for investing outside the U.S. is strong, particularly with the dollar coming off its highs and looking at further downside. "While China's reopening is undoubtedly a turning point, there remain reasons to be cautious," wrote Barclays equity strategists. But still the prospects for China's economy are much brighter than they were just several months ago. The Covid lockdown has been so damaging to the Chinese economy, they want to get back to a growth path in 2023."

Many companies are hesitant to buy carbon credits as the market faces criticism and coming standards remain unclear. Carbon credits are also expected to be discussed at this week’s World Economic Forum annual summit in Davos, Switzerland. As officials work to develop the market, sustainability chiefs must weigh the pros and cons of carbon credits in their climate plans. Carbon solutionsTo address concerns in the carbon market and scale up climate action, there is a movement toward better, widely accepted standards. The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market ended its public comment period in September on the 10 so-called Core Carbon Principles it proposed in July.
ABU DHABI, Jan 15 (Reuters) - U.S. climate envoy John Kerry on Sunday outlined core principles for a "high-integrity" carbon offset plan meant to help developing nations speed their energy transition, and next steps including establishing a consultative group. The Energy Transition Accelerator (ETA), first announced at last year's COP27 climate conference, is being developed by the United States with the Bezos Earth Fund and the Rockefeller Foundation to mobilise private capital. "We believe you can have high-integrity, accountable, transparent credit which will help us to be able to put some money on the table," he said, acknowledging widespread criticism of voluntary carbon offset schemes. He said ETA principles also called for a near-term, inclusive and comprehensive approach to deliver on broader sustainable development goals and support power sector-wide energy transition. The first quarter of the third year of a presidential term is consistently the best quarter for S & P 500 performance, according to CFRA data. "If everyone says the first half is going to be bad and the second half is going to be good, it could be the opposite. "The timing of the economic rebound probably starts in the second quarter so the market can look forward to it," he said. "Right now it's estimated to be down 3% year-on-year … We are looking at an earnings recession which is typically coincident with an economic recession." The second quarter is expected to be down 2.3%.
As a very painful market year exits, Wall Street's strategists expect 2023 will end on a much better note —even if the path there continues to be highly volatile. I think the Fed will likely be overtightening the economy into this recession." So rates could rise before heading lower in the second half, and that environment will be better for stocks. Rieder said 2023 is going to a banner year for fixed income, and "not so much because it's going to be rates rallying so much," he said. "I think rates still have some upside," said Rieder.

The call was from a journalist at an international paper asking for Miller's comment on the US housing market for a story. The 62-year-old founder of the real-estate-appraisal and data firm Miller Samuel is probably the most-quoted man in real estate, with some 2,469 news citations, according to the database LexisNexis. Today, Miller Samuel has replaced Scantrons with iPods, iPhones, and a CoreLogic appraisal software called A La Mode. Today, there's much more data than there was when he started Miller Samuel, but also a lot more "crap," Miller said.

“My daughter is just a cute little 6-year-old white girl — we couldn’t find anybody that looked like my daughter. It begs the question: What does an American Girl look like today? Because, going by the numbers, American Girl dolls represent what America looks like at present — not a “wokeified” version, but a real one. American Girl’s ethos is to build girls of strong character and help them reach their full potential. It is a future that can’t be stopped by a ridiculous anchor decrying that he can’t find a white doll for his cute white child.

The famous Rockefeller Center Christmas tree arrived in NYC from an upstate farm 200 miles away. The Rockefeller Center sees about 500,000 tourists during the holiday season. The 82-foot tree arrived in Manhattan from upstate New York in November and it's illumination is the unofficial indication that it's Christmas time in New York City. Onlookers waited patiently Wednesday night to see its estimated 50,000 multi-colored lights and giant Swarovski crystal star light up the Rockefeller Center, but the tree attracted local attention before it was decorated. NBC's "Christmas at Rockefeller Center" special aired on Wednesday night with many celebrity appearances – including a performance by Alicia Keys.
