Boeing is set to resume negotiations with union bosses on Monday. Thousands of members of the IAM union have been on strike since September 13. A group of Bank of America analysts, led by Ron Epstein, estimated that the strike was costing Boeing $50 million a day. Some 33,000 Boeing workers represented by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers have been on strike since September 13. Nearly 95% of union members voted against Boeing's initial offer of a 25% pay rise across the four-year contract.

But some warn that a still-strong labor market could make it more difficult for inflation to continue cooling. That’s because a low unemployment rate and hot job market underline a strong American consumer, whose spending helps drive up the cost of goods and services. It’s unclear whether the alleged assault was ever reported to police, or if an investigation by law enforcement ever took place. Nearly 70 people who belong to or are associated with a white supremacist gang in the San Fernando Valley were indicted on federal charges, authorities announced Wednesday, saying the multi-agency operation was Los Angeles’ largest ever takedown of an extremist group. The Moody's report, released as Helene was making landfall last week, estimated that property damage could cost between $15 billion to $26 billion. And the resulting economic slowdown could cost $5 billion to $8 billion in productivity losses. Only about 6% of U.S. homeowners have flood insurance through either a private company or the congressionally funded National Flood Insurance Program, despite 90% of natural disasters involving flooding, he said.

New York CNN —A married New Jersey couple that was in a severe accident during an Uber ride can’t sue the company because they and their daughter agreed to arbitration when they accepted the terms of service for a separate Uber Eats order, a court has ruled. Georgia sustained several fractures throughout her body, including cervical, lumbar, spine and rib fractures and other physical injuries that required surgeries and other procedures.
