Sept 14 (Reuters) - Russian retailer Magnit (MGNT.MM) said on Thursday it had fully completed a deal to buy back blocked shares from Western investors at a 50% discount by purchasing shares held through Euroclear, the first such arrangement since Russia's February 2022 invasion of Ukraine. Magnit said it had bought back 21,903,163.8 shares from shareholders, representing about 21.5% of all issued and outstanding shares at an amount of around 48.5 billion roubles ($507.32 million). "Magnit's GDR program depositary bank, JP Morgan Chase Bank, also took part, as well as international investors," Magnit said, such as hedge funds, sovereign wealth funds and individuals. Magnit had tripled the size of its original offer after strong demand from Western investors. Russia's presidential office is currently reviewing a request from oil major Lukoil (LKOH.MM) to buy back up to 25% of its shares from foreign investors.

HELSINKI (AP) — A 25-year-old foreign student has been arrested in Norway on suspicion of espionage, including illegal eavesdropping through various technical devices. Norway’s domestic security agency, known by its acronym PST, told Norwegian media that the man, who was arrested on Friday, was charged in court on Sunday with espionage and intelligence operations against the Nordic country. The man, whose identity and nationality haven't been disclosed, has pleaded not guilty in initial police questioning. “He (the suspect) is charged with using technical installations for illegal signal intelligence.”Police have seized from the man a number of data-carrying electronic devices, which the PST is now investigating. The suspect is a student, but he’s not enrolled at an educational institution in Norway, and he’s been living in Norway for a relatively short time, according to PST.

Meta Platforms will be fined 1 million crowns ($97,700) per day from Aug. 14 over privacy breaches, Norway's data protection authority told Reuters on Monday, in a decision that could have wider European implications. Meta Platforms is asking for a temporary injunction against the order, according to a court filing. Meta Platforms did not reply to a request for comment. The Norwegian data regulator, Datatilsynet, said Meta Platforms was seeking to stop the imposition of the fine.

REUTERS/Heiko Becker/File PhotoHELSINKI, Aug 8 (Reuters) - German gun maker Heckler & Koch has filed a complaint with the Finnish Market Court over Finland's direct arms purchase from a local manufacturer, bypassing competition rules, court documents seen by Reuters showed on Tuesday. Finland's defence forces said the procurement followed Finnish and EU exceptions to competition rules on the basis of national security interests. Contacted by Reuters, Heckler & Koch GmbH declined to comment on the proceeding and did not reveal if it had filed a similar complaint in Sweden. The Swedish Market Court or Stockholm's Administrative Court found no pending complaints by the German company in their registries.

I'd always harbored a dream of living on a canal boat. Remote work is easy from a narrowboatI work full-time for Microsoft as a partner manager and support the Nordic region. Boats need a lot of maintenance, but they can appreciate in value, especially if you're diligent about upkeep. You can buy a shorter canal boat, but then obviously you lose space. There are some downsides of living in a canal boat, but I'm happier overallThe hardest part is planning.
