Here's an update on the chart in a breakout shoemaker that is giving Nike a run for its money. In May, I wrote about On Holding AG (ONON) ahead of its earnings with a buy recommendation. You'll notice that the stock popped on the week of May 14th following the earnings report above the 2023 highs of $36.90. Looking at the valuation, NKE is trading about 26 times 2024 expected earnings and 25 times 2025 expected earnings. DECK is ranging from 10% to 20% revenue growth from the same period last year and ONON is running from 20% to 33% revenue growth.

Nvidia (NVDA) is finally showing signs of profit-taking, suggesting that the entire technology sector might be ready for a breather. This could present many bearish trading setups in various stocks because of the influence Nvidia has had leading the AI bubble. For now, let's focus on making a bearish trade in the Invesco QQQ Trust , an ETF that tracks the Nasdaq 100 index. The Trade The trade structure I have chosen here is called a Bear Call Spread also known as a Call Credit Spread. As long as QQQ stays below $483 in the next 17 days, this trade will return a 38% ROI on the money risked.

How to trade Carnival before earnings using options
  + stars: | 2024-06-24 | by ( Michael Khouw | ) www.cnbc.com   time to read: +5 min
Both the dividend and debt levels have important implications for the stock's volatility, the price of options generally, and the relationship between the price of puts and calls. The trade All else equal, higher levels of corporate debt increase leverage and, therefore, the volatility of a company's equity. Carnival's options are nearly twice as expensive now as they were at the end of 2019, but the higher levels of debt justify higher prices. Typically, we do not recommend selling covered calls into earnings unless options prices are very high, as earnings provide a catalyst that can move a stock. In this case, an 8% implied move is substantial, but due to the high debt levels, it merely represents a fair price for the options.

Some concerning candle patterns for leading technology names have caused me to focus on potential downside targets for the S & P 500 . To be clear, this is a short-term pattern, and is really just intended to inform our thinking for the next couple trading sessions. The most important level to watch is S & P 5,200, which would represent about a 5% pullback from the recent market peak. A move below S & P 5200 would cause me to revisit long positions and start to raise cash due to an elevated risk of a correction. If and when the S & P pushes below 4950, I would be positioned way more defensively, waiting for some signs of accumulation to emerge.

At the Cannes Lions advertising festival in Cannes, France, Musk was asked by WPP CEO Mark Read why he told advertisers threatening to pull ads from the platform late last year to "go f--- yourself." Musk said it was meant as a general point on free speech rather than a comment to the wider advertising industry. "In some cases, there were advertisers who were insisting on censorship," Musk said. "We're going to support free speech rather than agree to be censored for money which I think is the right moral decision," he added. He was joined by Linda Yaccarino, X's CEO and former chairman of global advertising and partnerships for NBC Universal.

Big TV used to have a monopoly on our attention — and our wallets. This mirrors the pitch big TV companies are making this week in New York to advertisers. Yet the idea of building rosters of paid political contributors took off with cable news. MSNBC, CNN and Fox News Channel are, in large part, political talk channels and seek experts to help fill the time. Being on call to opine can be lucrative work; several reports had NBC agreeing to pay McDaniel $300,000 a year. Even NBC News, whose MSNBC cable outlet appeals to liberals, has more than a dozen Republican contributors. It’s difficult to succinctly summarize the disastrous state of affairs at the news division, given that multiple engines are failing simultaneously. sand and refusing to dump McDaniel until after his top television personalities, including Chuck Todd and Rachel Maddow, went on the air and excoriated the hire. Ironically, NBC News’ attempt to make inroads with Republicans through the hiring of McDaniel has had the opposite effect. New York CNN —Only 80 hours elapsed between NBC News announcing Ronna McDaniel as a paid contributor and the network ousting her from that very role. But for the leadership at NBC Universal News Group, those were 80 painful hours. “What a sh*t show!” a media executive exclaimed to me Tuesday shortly after Conde relieved McDaniel of her NBC News credentials. “These Radical Left Lunatics are CRAZY and the top people at NBC ARE WEAK,” Trump raged on his Truth Social platform. Read previewEarlier this month, NBC Universal said the NFL playoff game it streamed (mostly) exclusively on Peacock, its streaming service, was a huge success. Crucially, it didn't say how many people signed up (and paid for) Peacock to watch the game. Now we (probably) know: Peacock signed up nearly 3 million subscribers for the game. That's according to subscription tracking service Antenna, which says 2.8 million people signed up over a three-day window leading up to the January 13 game. (It says Disney+ signed up 2.5 million people on its launch day in 2019, though Disney announced 10 million signups.

X, the social media company formerly known as Twitter, could lose as much as $75 million in advertising revenue by the end of the year as dozens of major brands pause their marketing campaigns after its owner, Elon Musk, endorsed an antisemitic conspiracy theory this month. They list how much ad revenue X employees fear the company could lose through the end of the year if advertisers do not return. On Friday, X said in a statement that $11 million in revenue was at risk and that the exact figure fluctuated as some advertisers returned to the platform and others increased spending. The company said the numbers viewed by The Times were either outdated or represented an internal exercise to evaluate total risk. X is also running ad campaigns during the holiday period to try to make up for revenue shortfalls.

CNN —It appears the actors’ strike is approaching its final scene. That progress has led to hopes that an agreement could be reached as early as this week or next week, the people said. One such issue, the use of artificial intelligence, has proved to be a sticking point between the writers and studios and required careful examination. SAG-AFTRA told its members early Monday that over the weekend it had “discussed all open proposals,” including A.I., with the studios. That would mean actors, crews, and much of the Hollywood industry would have to endure the holiday season out of work.
