An armed North Carolina man was arrested after it was reported that he had made comments about “possibly harming FEMA employees” involved in hurricane relief efforts in the state, authorities said. William Jacob Parsons, 44, was arrested Saturday after the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office received a call saying the caller witnessed Parsons making threatening comments about Federal Emergency Management Agency responders in Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. He was charged with “Going Armed to the Terror of the Public,” the sheriff’s office said. CNN —Drought is now so bad in parts of southern Africa that governments say they must kill hundreds of their most captivating, majestic wild animals to feed desperately hungry people. In August, Namibia announced it had embarked on a cull of 723 animals, including 83 elephants, 30 hippos and 300 zebras. Crops have failed, livestock has died and nearly 70 million people are desperately in need of food. They say it’s the opposite: reducing numbers will help protect remaining animals as the drought shrinks food and water resources. Both Namibia and Zimbabwe say professional hunters will ensure entire groups are killed to prevent this.

Growing up, Lamorne Morris enjoyed Garrett Morris’ performances as Martin’s boss on “Martin” and as Uncle Junior on “The Jamie Foxx Show.” His only knowledge of the trailblazer at the time was that they shared the same last name. He launched his own comedy career at Second City, considered a “Saturday Night Live” training ground, in his native Chicago. There, Morris, who grew up watching the Will Ferrell-Tina Fey era of the pop culture staple, learned that Garrett Morris was an original cast member on the series. Insured losses from Hurricane Milton could range from $30 billion to $60 billion, per Morningstar DBRS. Homeowners and renters affected by a natural disaster can ask about so-called "loss of use" or "additional living expenses" coverage from their insurance providers, experts say. The provision is meant to help cover reasonable living expenses if your home is not suitable to live in as a result of a covered peril such as a hurricane, fire or burst pipe. "I don't know of any homeowners policy that doesn't have it already there," said Karl Susman, president and principal insurance agent of Susman Insurance Services, Inc. in Los Angeles.
