Office jargon is another corporate relic that Gen Z is unsubscribing from, refusing to "circle back" or get their "ducks in a row." "Gen Z isn't playing the corporate language game," Emily Durham, a recruiter and popular TikToker, told Business Insider. About 60% of the Gen Z and millennials surveyed said this workplace jargon felt like another language, and two-thirds thought their colleagues overdid it. Jargon is exclusionaryThe "corporate accent" is also joining jargon on the list of workplace cultures that Gen Z is resisting. But another may also be how educated Gen Z is on the roots of some of these things.

CNN —Allowing TikTok to continue to be operated by its current parent company could allow the Chinese government to covertly influence US elections, the Justice Department said in a court filing late Friday. The filing is in response to a federal lawsuit TikTok brought against the US government in May in an attempt to block a law that could force a nationwide ban of the app. In their lawsuit, TikTok and Bytedance say that US law is unconstitutional because it runs afoul of free speech rights and prevents Americans from accessing lawful information. “TikTok application collects vast swaths of sensitive data from its 170 million U.S. users,” the DOJ filing reads. The Friday filing makes clear that law enforcement officials believe TikTok could – and has in some instances – taken direction from the Chinese government.

Nickel mining in Indonesia has surged, making it the world's top producer of the metal. With over 14 active mines, Indonesia supplies more than 40% of global nickel demand, driven by its crucial role in electric vehicle (EV) batteries. The rapid growth in nickel production is closely linked to Indonesia's partnership with China, the largest global EV battery producer. Chinese investments have bolstered Indonesia's mining capabilities, focusing on refining nickel locally following a 2022 ban on raw nickel exports. Increased nickel production in Indonesia has led to oversupply and lower prices, impacting producers in Australia and Canada.

But one past action stands out as something that could be both an asset to Ms. Harris as well as an albatross. As a senator in 2019, Ms. Harris cosponsored the Green New Deal, a nonbinding resolution that was centered around the idea that addressing climate change required significant changes in the economy. It called for converting the electric grid to 100 percent clean energy this decade, declared clean air, clean water and healthy food to be basic human rights.
