Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump have been subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury. The special counsel overseeing the investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election issued the subpoenas. Mike Pence, the former vice president, was recently subpoenaed as part of the probe. The subpoenas, issued by special counsel Jack Smith, come as part of the far-reaching criminal probe into Trump's attempt to stay in power after President Joe Biden defeated him in the 2020 election, The Times reported. Smith also recently subpoenaed former Vice President Mike Pence to testify before the grand jury, though Pence has said he intends to resist the subpoena.
It's a move that, even if technically legal, appears designed to help obscure Kushner's financial relationship with the Saudis, and fuels longstanding suspicions over Kushner's relationship with the crown prince. During his time as a senior advisor in his father-in-law's administration, Kushner's relationship with the Saudi ruler repeatedly raised alarm among top US officials. Jabin Botsford/The Washington Post via Getty ImagesThe Post report also said Trump benefited financially from ties with the Saudis after leaving office. A report by The Intercept in 2018 claimed that Crown Prince Mohammed boasted about having secured an extraordinary level of influence over Kushner, reportedly remarking that he had Kushner "in his pocket." The report said that Kushner may have even handed US intelligence on internal critics to Crown Prince Mohammed.
Weeks after leaving office, Jared Kushner obtained a $2 billion investment from the Saudi government. The Saudi support came despite the kingdom's own financial advisers urging against any investment in Kushner's new company, citing the "inexperience" of its top brass. Let's start with Jared Kushner before we get into the LIV Golf situation. You have John Bolton, Trump's own national security advisor, making it very clear that you had somebody, like Jared — and President Trump, apparently — working to promote their business interests. Trump, not only did he keep his company, the Trump Organization, but he's a transactional president, right?
Managing finances with a significant other isn't the sexiest thing to talk about, but it's an important topic to breach. If you're unfamiliar with Replika, it's an AI chatbot similar to ChatGPT, with one big exception. After a brief intro, I explained my problem: I needed help managing finances with my wife. Maintain separate accounts: It's also a good idea for each spouse to have their own personal account for individual expenses and financial independence. For example, if one spouse makes significantly more than the other, they may contribute a larger portion to joint expenses.
In April 2022, The New York Times reported Jared Kushner received $2.5 billion in Saudi-backed funds. A new Washington Post report reveals how Kushner's company concealed the source of the funds. On an SEC form, a box reading "Sovereign wealth funds and foreign official institutions" was blank. In the form, Kushner lists Affinity as an "other business name." Kushner and his father-in-law, Trump, have received a fair share of scrutiny for their ties to the Saudi prince and his allies.
Thrive announced at the beginning of last year it closed a massive $3 billion fund. By the end of the year, one of the fund's major investors marked down its stake by 31%. Thrive Capital, the New York-based venture firm founded in 2009 by Joshua Kushner, announced at the beginning of last year it closed a massive $3 billion fund, with $500 million earmarked for early-stage startups and another $2.5 billion devoted later-stage companies. Thrive is also in talks to make another $1 billion investment in Stripe, Bloomberg recently reported. And Thrive is also in talks to invest in OpenAI through a tender offer, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Today, they're mostly the poster children of just how challenging it is to break into the insurance industry. Clover Health; Bright Health; Oscar Health; Olivia Reaney/Business InsiderOscar, founded in 2012, and Bright, in 2015, set out to sell health plans to people buying coverage through the Affordable Care Act marketplace. Elevance Health, the parent company of Anthem health plans, is No. Health insurance remains overly complex and mind-numbingly frustrating. Established health insurers haven't been able to stem the rise in health costs, which are mostly determined by the prices for medical care.

Q: As a mother and artist, how much did your character Mitzi and Spielberg's mother Leah Adler resonate with you?

NEW YORK, Jan 24 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Josh Kushner is getting some help from friends. Thrive sold that same small stake to Goldman Sachs (GS.N) in mid-2021, then bought it back last December. If Kushner has trouble raising capital down the road, it’ll help having wealthy friends with an established rolodex. As the venture market faces a downturn the likes of Kushner haven’t seen, a seasoned set of confidants will be needed. They do not reflect the views of Reuters News, which, under the Trust Principles, is committed to integrity, independence, and freedom from bias.

USV's 2004 fund returned more than $305 million in cash from a $22 million UTIMCO investment, with an IRR of 66%. Thrive Capital, the venture firm Joshua Kushner founded in 2009, has delivered -34% IRR on two funds from late 2021. UTIMCO's $6.7 million invested has been marked down to $4.6 million. Two funds UTIMCO invested in the VC firm Initialized at the beginning of 2022 have a -5.5% IRR. Upfront Ventures, the most prominent early-stage firm in Los Angeles, has returned only $31 million though UTIMCO invested $110 million since 2015.
When it comes to queer books, the loudest headlines may be about bans and censorship, but a quieter truth about the state of LGBTQ books reveals the resilience of their authors and commitment of their readers. The queer titles debuting in 2023 are as full of joy as they are examples of resistance, and those in the industry say LGBTQ writers are only getting more ambitious. And while queer young adult books are often the target of book-banning efforts, these titles drove the highest gains in the category, the report found. When it comes to considering a queer future, and what’s next for queer books, that’s something that’s been on the mind of Suzi F. Garcia, the editor of Lambda Literary, a nonprofit that advocates for LGBTQ books and authors. She described the book as having a “queer core” and a sense of hope while discussing issues critical to LGBTQ and Black communities.

Hope Hicks, who served as a top adviser to former President Donald Trump, told an aide to Ivanka Trump that “we all look like domestic terrorists now” as the Capitol riot unfolded on Jan. 6, 2021. In texts released by the House Jan. 6 committee, Hicks expressed concerns about the consequences of Trump’s actions to Julie Radford, who was then Ivanka Trump’s chief of staff. She departed the White House several days after the Jan. 6 insurrection after serving as a counselor to the president. She previously served as White House communications director as well as director of strategic communications. Before joining the Trump White House, Hicks worked for Trump’s presidential campaign, the Trump Organization and Ivanka Trump’s fashion brand.
Donald Trump requested that Jared Kushner try to trademark "Rigged Election!" The email was titled "POTUS requests," per the transcript, which Kushner said "most likely" conveyed a direct request from Trump. Two phrases were included in bold, including exclamation marks, which were "Rigged Election!" Kushner told the panel that he couldn't recall Trump's intended purpose of using the phrase "Rigged Election," adding that his role was "operational" and involved forwarding requests to the right people, the transcript shows. After losing to Biden in November 2020, Trump tweeted it was a "RIGGED ELECTION."
Trump official Ken Cuccinelli claims to not remember Donald Trump calling the 2020 election "rigged." "I am not prepared to validate that word," Cuccinelli told investigators, according to testimony released Friday. And "Rigged Election Hoax!" "Is it fair to say," an investigator asked, "that seeds of distrust were sown with respect to the 2020 election — after the November 2020 election?" In May 2020, for example, he asserted that the presidential contest would be "the greatest Rigged Election in history."
Jared Kushner denied Biden's team access to COVID-19 plans in late 2020, a former aide said. Kushner said Biden's team should "absolutely not" be looped in, claimed Alyssa Farah Griffin. "Jared just said, 'Absolutely not,'" Farah Griffin told the panel. Biden officials complained at the time that the Trump administration was refusing them access to COVID-19 data in the weeks after the election. In the same speech, Biden pressed the Trump administration to provide more details about the allocation of COVID-19 vaccinations.
Donald Trump said he never asked Ivanka and Jared Kushner to join his 2024 campaign. He said he told them not to be part of it because people would be "too mean and nasty." Recent reports have suggested that the pair are distancing themselves from Trump's politics. "Contrary to Fake News reporting, I never asked Jared or Ivanka to be part of the 2024 Campaign for President," Trump wrote on Truth Social, the social media platform he founded, on Monday. Ivanka did not attend her father's 2024 campaign launch in November, and later told the media that she does not have political ambitions.
Former President Donald Trump dined with Ye and Nick Fuentes, who have spewed antisemitic hate. Trump's son-in-law was once one of his closest advisors but has since distanced himself, New York magazine reported. Trump's now-infamous November dinner with Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes sparked widespread controversy and condemnation. But they are not getting involved now, according to a new report from New York magazine. Another person speaking to New York Magazine said that perhaps Kushner felt a "familial obligation" to attend.
Ivanka Trump appeared "visibly upset" during the Capitol riot, the Jan. 6 committee report said. It said she attempted to persuade her father, then-President Donald Trump, to call off the rioters. The report also detailed how other aides tried to get Trump to stop the attack on the Capitol. It was 3 hours after the attack on the Capitol began that Trump finally issued a message telling his supporters to go home. The report argued that Trump was responsible for the attack, recommending that he be barred from office.
Hunter Biden has added a high-powered attorney to his legal team amid an ongoing federal probe and plans by Republicans to make him a key focus of investigations when they take control of the House next month. Abbe Lowell, of the firm Winston and Strawn, will be primarily responsible for coordinating Hunter Biden’s response to anticipated congressional oversight investigations, as well advising on other legal issues and overall strategy, an attorney for Hunter Biden told NBC News on Wednesday. "Hunter Biden has retained Abbe Lowell to help advise him and be part of his legal team to address the challenges he is facing,” the attorney, Kevin Morris, said. "Lowell is a well-known Washington based attorney has represented numerous public officials and high profile people in DOJ investigations and trials as well as Congressional Investigations. Mr. Lowell will handle congressional investigations and general strategic advice."
