FBI Director Christopher Wray and Donald Trump's team are planning for the possibility that the president-elect will replace Wray during the new administration, three people familiar with the matter told NBC News. Wray, whom Trump appointed in 2017 to a 10-year term, enjoys leading the FBI and had intended to serve out his term, a source said. Wray could resign if he was told Trump wants him gone, as is widely expected. “I assume that’s the best apology that we’ll get from Director Wray, but it is fully accepted!” he wrote. They’ve pressed forward even though a majority of Americans still see the Capitol rioters as responsible for an attack against democracy, according to the most recent polling. The most pressing concerns are for convicted rioters required to report to prison before Trump’s inauguration in January, and for rioters with sentencing hearings coming up, according to a source familiar with the discussions. “They’re thrilled with the election, but there’s a lot of uncertainty from their perspective,” the source told CNN. For convicted rioters already serving prison sentences, there’s even less hope to get them out based on Trump’s campaign rhetoric, the source said. A notable portion of Silicon Valley's electorate has steadily shifted toward Donald Trump. In Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Francisco counties, Trump's voteshare increased by several points. But with more than 76% of the votes counted in San Francisco, Santa Clara, and San Mateo counties as of Tuesday, a trend is emerging. These numbers show that Trump and Republicans are still a long way off from gaining any real majorities in Silicon Valley.
