President Joe Biden called out Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, now a Republican megadonor and Trump campaign surrogate, for hypocrisy on immigration on Saturday, saying Musk launched his long career in the U.S. as an "illegal worker" before becoming the world's wealthiest man. The president made these remarks at a campaign event to support Democrats that took place in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday. Labeling Musk as former President Donald Trump's wealthy new "ally," Biden said, "That wealthiest man in the world turned out to be an illegal worker here when he was here," referring to Musk. The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to CNBC's request for comment on Biden's remarks. Musk had arrived in the U.S. with the stated intention of attending grad school at Stanford in the mid-90s.

Still, if in Biden’s mind a worst-case scenario was prevented, the larger knot that is the Middle East conflict remains as firmly gnarled as ever. Biden and Harris joined a call Saturday with their national security team and were briefed on the the latest developments in the region according to the White House. But few believe there will be any resolution before the November 5 US presidential election, leaving Biden and Harris’ inability to bring stability to the region a serious political liability. While Vice President Kamala Harris led Trump among Hispanic voters overall, 54% to 40%, each candidate got 47% support among Latino men, a marked difference from the 26-point lead Harris had among Latinas. “After that photo, there was controversy in the family, there was controversy with friends, but we didn’t care.”For Republican political consultant Mike Madrid, the Republican gains in Latino support especially among men are a long-term trend. Madrid, author of “The Latino Century” and co-founder of the anti-Trump super PAC The Lincoln Project, said he’s increasingly seen Latino voters become pocketbook voters. Democratic political strategist Chuck Rocha, founder of the bilingual political consulting firm Solidarity Strategies, said he disagrees with the notion that Latino men voting Republican is a sign of a long-term trend. He said he watched Harris’ interview on Fox News, but nothing she says would change his support for Trump.

“Kamala is weak, dishonest, and dangerously liberal, and that’s why the American people will reject her on November 5th.”The Harris campaign declined to comment for this article. “Well, I’m clearly a woman,” Harris told NBC News in her interview Tuesday. And on Thursday, Harris delivered an unscheduled speech focused on former Trump chief of staff John Kelly confirming Trump praised Adolf Hitler’s generals. The Harris campaign argues that the plan will tip some final undecided voters — a chunk of which are disaffected Republicans or independents. The Harris campaign says it is also focused on understanding what messaging could impact the small number of undecided voters that remain in key battleground states. “The two most motivating messages for Democratic turnout are those around abortion and democracy.”Some Harris campaign officials echoed that argument. Still, some Democrats who have worked with Harris worry there is too much focus on Trump and not on Harris’ unique skills and vision.
