LONDON (Reuters) - Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has been diagnosed with a form of skin cancer, British media reported on Sunday, in another health problem for a member of Britain's royal family. Ferguson, 64, who was married to Prince Andrew, was treated for breast cancer last year and has now been diagnosed with malignant melanoma after several moles were removed. "Clearly, another diagnosis so soon after treatment for breast cancer has been distressing, but the duchess remains in good spirits." Ferguson, known as Fergie, has spoken of the importance of coming forward for cancer checks after her initial breast cancer surgery. Her new diagnosis was reported as King Charles, 75, prepares for a "corrective procedure" for an enlarged prostate this week.

LONDON (AP) — Sarah, the Duchess of York, has been diagnosed with a malignant skin cancer that was discovered during her treatment for breast cancer, a spokesperson said. The melanoma was found after several moles were removed while she was undergoing reconstructive surgery after a mastectomy. “Clearly, another diagnosis so soon after treatment for breast cancer has been distressing but the Duchess remains in good spirits," the spokesperson said. Sarah, 64, the ex-wife of Prince Andrew and the mother of Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie was once a favorite target of Britain’s tabloids. Kate, the Princess of Wales, had abdominal surgery and King Charles III is due this week to have prostate treatment.

The cover of that edition of S.N.C.C.’s newsletter called attention to police killings of Black men, with the headline: “Cops Run Wild. Where Will They Strike Next?” Black and Palestinian resistance to repression were bound together. The theology claims that an immense fraud has been perpetrated by Jews upon Black people. Yet in recent years, a new bond between Black and Jewish activists has emerged, catalyzed, in part, by the confluence of civil rights protests and attention to the Palestinian plight. The alliance is “growing and exciting,” Nyle Fort, a Black activist and assistant professor of African American and African diaspora studies at Columbia, told me.

New York CNN —Washington state is suing to block the proposed $25 billion merger between supermarket chains Kroger and Albertsons, warning that if approved it could raise prices and harm consumers. In a suit filed Monday by the state’s Attorney General Bob Ferguson, his reasons for opposing the merger are because it would “severely limit” grocery store options for Washington residents and “eliminate vital competition” among the brands. “This merger is bad for Washington shoppers and workers,” Ferguson said. Kroger announced it was buying Albertsons in 2022 with the transaction expecting to close later this year, depending on regulatory approval. The companies say they will reach 85 million households.

SEATTLE (AP) — Washington state Attorney General Bob Ferguson on Monday sued to block the proposed merger of Kroger and Albertsons, two of the nation's largest grocery chains. Kroger and Albertsons have more than 300 locations in the state and account for more than half of its grocery sales, according to the suit. “This merger is bad for Washington shoppers and workers,” Ferguson said in a news release Monday. "Workers, shoppers and our communities need to prevent this proposed mega-merger from taking place,” Yasmin Ashur, a union member who works in an Albertsons grocery store, said in a union statement Monday. The grocery chains say they must merge to compete with Walmart, Amazon and other major companies that have stepped into the grocery business.

Dak Prescott threw two interceptions before three mostly empty touchdown passes in another playoff flop for him and the No. These Packers, with the four-time MVP's successor, left little doubt with a 48-16 fourth-quarter lead before two late Dallas TDs. Facing the NFL's fifth-best defense, Green Bay matched its Super Bowl-winning team from 2010 for the most points in a playoff game. Jones rushed for 118 yards, putting him over the century mark in all four career games against the Cowboys with nine touchdowns. Prescott finished 41 of 60 for 403 yards, with all three of his touchdowns to tight end Jake Ferguson.

While much of Europe's startup ecosystem has been hobbled by the rocky macroeconomic environment and soaring interest rates, climate tech has continued to lure funds from venture capitalists. Many climate tech companies work with hardware, meaning debt financing is also an attractive non-dilutive option for working capital between funding rounds. Global private market equity and grant funding for climate tech startups is actually down – it slid 40% to $65 billion in the 12 months ending September 30, according to PwC. Some smaller climate tech companies have made cuts, including vertical farming company InFarm, which retreated from Europe and was declared bankrupt in the Netherlands. Generally, however, layoffs have been a boon for climate as big tech talent has moved into or launched climate tech startups.

Rallies in the stock and bond markets could be undone by the very thing that seems to be underpinning the moves higher. The Fed relies on an amorphous group of indicators collectively known as "financial conditions" to help judge the state of play on policy. True to form, a Chicago Fed baromete r is showing financial conditions at their easiest since early February 2023. But I think they don't want to be premature, because they also know there's a risk of the economy restarting with the loosening of financial conditions. "That does not necessarily support the 'happy days are here again' everything-rally that we're currently seeing in the market."

MISSION, Kan. (AP) — A Kansas grade school forced an 8-year-old Native American boy to cut off his hair after he grew it out for cultural reasons, the American Civil Liberties Union said. But in August, school officials told him that he needed to cut his hair to comply with the dress code, the ACLU said. The assistant principal then emailed the mother on a Friday, telling her she had until the following Monday to get her son's hair cut or he would be sent home. It noted that Native American children often had their hair cut when they were placed in boarding schools, which systematically abused students to assimilate them into white society. The letter said there is no legitimate reason for imposing the requirement, noting that girls are allowed to have long hair.

The Glazer family announced last November that they were exploring "strategic alternatives" for the club, including a possible sale and were open to fresh investment. Manchester United's U.S.-listed shares rose 9.5% to $20.10 in early trading on Friday. Manchester United generates more revenue and has a larger fan base than its London rival. The Glazer family has faced intense criticism from fans over its handling of this key part of the club's operations. The six descendants of American businessman Malcolm Glazer, who died in 2014, currently control 96% of Manchester United's voting stock.
