Washington CNN —Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy described the case against former President Donald Trump for allegedly mishandling classified documents as “almost a slam dunk” and said he thinks Trump should drop out of the 2024 presidential race. They come as the various charges against Trump continue to dominate the GOP primary, with the former president widely viewed as the party’s front-runner. “If it’s proven, we may have a candidate for president who’s been convicted of a crime,” Cassidy said. When pressed on whether he would vote for Trump should he become the GOP nominee, Cassidy demurred. “I’m going to vote for a Republican,” Cassidy said.

Asked if Trump should drop out of the presidential race, the Louisiana Republican told CNN's "State of the Union" program: "I think so. “In some ways, the challenges are greater than I anticipated,” Iger told CNBC in a revealing interview last month. But under Iger 2.0, Disney has cultivated even more headaches for itself, including a morale crisis sparked by one surprisingly candid interview with CNBC on July 13. Naturally, the comments set off alarms within Disney General Entertainment Content, the division that operates Disney’s broadcast and cable networks. A few days after the Faber interview, Iger tried to smooth things over at an off-site meeting with senior managers. "I think this is very winnable, but it's not the slam dunk that the documents case is," Neama Rahmani, President of West Coast Trial Lawyers and a former federal prosecutor, said, referring to one of Trump's other federal indictments. Trump's January 6 trial is likely to be more reliant on witness testimony than his classified documents case. In that case, prosecutors have surveillance footage, phone records, and even an audio recording of Trump discussing the classified documents in question to help bolster their case. So it was remarkable Wednesday when the deal for Hunter Biden to plead guilty to two misdemeanors for his failure to pay taxes on time fell apart in a federal courtroom after the judge raised questions about it. Special counsel Jack Smith unexpectedly added a major allegation to the indictment charging former President Donald Trump with mishandling classified documents. The Trump and Hunter Biden developments underlined how America’s political climate is being shaped by what happens in the courts. This addition, an alleged surveillance tape conspiracy, almost reads like a spy novel.”“It features Trump employee and co-defendant Walt Nauta’s surprise clandestine trip to Florida. To W. James Antle III, it was the Hunter Biden plea deal snafu that brought to the forefront the “powerful split screen that drives” how Republican voters see the emerging 2024 presidential race.

But I can’t help imagine him quietly fist-pumping the moment he got wind of the latest inflation data. For context, a year ago the CPI peaked at 9.1% — the worst inflation in more than 40 years. After a punishing stretch of rising prices, “the fever is breaking,” wrote Bill Adams, chief economist for Comerica Bank. Medvedev survives Fucsovics onslaught to reach last 16

LONDON, July 8 (Reuters) - Daniil Medvedev has been making up for lost time as he downed Hungary's Marton Fucsovics 4-6 6-3 6-4 6-4 to match his best ever showing at Wimbledon by reaching the fourth round on Saturday. A year after being banned from playing at the All England Club following Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the Moscow-born Medvedev survived a wayward opening set to topple an opponent who had won their only previous meeting at a major. But Medvedev trampled on those dreams in the fourth game of the second set, when he broke Fucsovics to love after the Hungarian double-faulted to surrender his serve. Once Medvedev had taken a two-sets-to-one lead by banging down an unreturnable serve, Fucsovics needed an injury time out to get his right ankle manipulated and strapped up by the trainer. He got back on his feet and even earned a break point in the eighth game of the fourth set.

REUTERS/Hannah BeierJuly 3 (Reuters) - In state after state, conservative lawmakers this year have banned medical procedures for transgender youth. Now, a growing number of federal judges are blocking those laws from taking effect. The court rulings offer temporary relief from the recent rush of bills banning transgender youth from receiving treatments such as puberty blockers and hormone therapy. Democrats, LGBTQ advocacy groups and health providers say the bans unjustly target a vulnerable community for whom gender-affirming care can be life-saving. The judges also have said laws banning such care violate a parent's right to make healthcare decisions for their children.

The Charlotte Hornets own the second pick in the NBA Draft while the Portland Trail Blazers are set to pick third overall. There will be 58 picks across two rounds in the 2023 NBA Draft instead of the usual 60 because Philadelphia and Chicago forfeited a second-round pick due to violating rules governing free agency discussions.

Millennials use workplace jargon the most, while Gen Zers are the most annoyed by it. But, Wilson warns, using too much jargon "can make you sound desperate to belong." Office jargon doesn't just confuse the people you want to impress — it can also exclude or even offend them in some cases. Amidst the office jargon, there are also phrases with culturally insensitive undertones like "low on the totem poll," McCaskill points out. You might not be able to avoid jargon completely, but deferring to simple, clear language — and limiting how often you're using corporate colloquialisms — is the easiest way to sound smarter at work, McCaskill says.

Trump’s defense secretary who preceded Esper, James Mattis, had already turned full throttle against Trump before the 2020 election. He opposes Trump’s prosecution in New York by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, a Democrat, for alleged participation in a hush money scheme before the 2016 election. He also questions whether Trump should be prosecuted in connection with January 6, 2021, or his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Any ultimate prosecution with regard to the 2020 election could be a mistake, Barr said, arguing a candidate should have First Amendment rights.
