This study was particularly helpful in investigating sitting because of its large sample size and the methodology it employed, Diaz said. “We would really recommend that as many people as possible avoid sitting more than 10.6 hours a day,” Ajufo said. The study is also observational, which means that while it can make associations, it can’t prove that the sitting was the cause of the heart disease, she added. CNN —A mummified ice age cub from Siberia is the first known mummy of a sabre-toothed cat, and its discovery is generating ripples of excitement among paleontologists. A, B and C reveal views of the mummified Homotherium latidens specimen: A is a thumb claw; B a second digit claw; and С a plantar view. However, the mummy also showed that sabre-toothed cubs differed dramatically from modern lion cubs of a similar age, Lopatin said. Its coat was darker, and its ears were smaller than those of lion cubs; it had longer forelimbs, a larger mouth opening and a more massive neck. Its paw is also more circular than that of a lion cub; in fact, its shape more closely resembles the paw of a bear, Tseng added.

Bela Karolyi, one of the United States' most eminent gymnastics coaches alongside wife Márta, has died at age 82, a spokesperson for USA Gymnastics said Saturday evening. In an interview with USA Gymnastics in 2016, Retton described her first American Cup competition under the Karolyis. In 2016, USA Gymnastics purchased Karolyi Ranch and celebrated the couple’s influence on American competitors. In 2018, USA Gymnastics terminated its contract with Karolyi Ranch and closed the facility in Walker County, Texas. Comăneci said on Instagram that Bela Karolyi was a "big impact and influence in my life."

Known as the “dancing mouse” due to its slippery movements in that final, fatal fight with the Imperial Japanese Navy, the destroyer USS Edsall went down off the coast of Australia in 1942, under the command of Lt. Joshua Nix. Speaking alongside Kennedy, Australia’s chief of navy, Vice Adm. Mark Hammond, said the wreck was found with the help of advanced hydrographic survey capabilities aboard naval support ship MV Stoker. “Nix’s position was hopeless from the moment Edsall was sighted,” Cox wrote. At least one hit Edsall, and the ship began to lose its ability to maneuver. The discovery highlighted the current AUKUS partnership, between the US, Australia and the United Kingdom, she said.
