London CNN —Historic strikes by autoworkers in North America have cost Stellantis €3 billion ($3.2 billion) in lost revenue, the maker of Chrysler and Jeep said Tuesday. Earlier this month, General Motors (GM) said walkouts by its workers had cost the company $200 million in their first two weeks. Stellantis (STLA) still reported better-than-expected revenue for the July-September period, up 7% on the same quarter in 2022 at €45.1 billion ($48 billion). The UAW has hailed the deal that ended the prolonged walkouts at Stellantis as a major victory. Separately, Stellantis reached an agreement with Canadian union Unifor Monday, hours after a strike began there.

Toyota's North Carolina facility is set to begin operations in 2025 and will be the company's first automotive battery plant globally. It will have six battery production lines, four supporting hybrid vehicles such as the Prius, and two additional lines to support battery EVs. New York CNN —The longest US auto strike in 25 years is nearly over. The United Auto Workers union announced a tentative agreement on a contract with General Motors Monday night. Typically when a union goes on strike, and then reaches a tentative deal, the workers don’t return to work until the ratification process is completed. The union hasn’t yet said why its 18,000 strikers are going back to work before the ratification process is conducted. Fewer senior union members who are not at top pay could see their pay increase by between 20% to 46%.

The walkout by about 8,200 members of Canada’s Unifor union will close five Stellantis plants in Canada. The immediate impact on the automaker’s production will be limited, however, because the company’s largest facility—an assembly plant in Windsor, Ontario, that makes the Chrysler Pacifica, Voyager and Grand Caravan minivans—had already been shut for retooling.
