That's helping establish a new millennial milestone for some: Ditching roommates, moving out from the family home, and landing on living alone. Business Insider's analysis of American Community Survey microdata from IPUMS found that 10.5% of millennials lived alone in 2022. Per BI's analysis of American Community Survey data via IPUMS, 16% of millennials lived with at least one parent as of 2022. (The data doesn't specify if that means they're living with their parents or if their parents are living with them.) Subsidized solo livingSome lower-earning millennials are able to get assistance reaching the solo-living milestone — but it's not always easy.

Neighborhood names are also shorthand for your rent or mortgage payments. In 2017, real-estate brokers in the historically Black New York neighborhood of Harlem sparked backlash when they tried to rebrand its south end as SoHa. At their best, new neighborhood names bring people together over a shared sense of pride in their little corner of the world. Along the way, these neighborhood names have veered into parody territory. I'm not saying that neighborhood names should be set in stone — in fact, I think it's natural for them to evolve alongside their populations.

Landing a data analyst job helped me achieve the life I had dreamed ofI started looking at job boards and saw a ton of data analyst positions, with an average starting salary of around $70,000, in 2018. I don't feel that working in Big Tech is worth itWhen people think about working a tech job, many think of Big Tech companies like Tesla and Meta, which offer the highest salaries and have a certain air of prestige. Although they might not be quite as high as Big Tech roles, the salaries at non-tech companies can be super competitive, especially if you focus on non-tech companies in the Fortune 500. When you apply for tech jobs at non-tech companies, you're not competing against people who are trying to be the best in the world. AdvertisementI advise anyone hoping to land their first data analyst job at a non-tech company to start looking at their current job as an asset and find where it overlaps with data analyst jobs.

New York CNN —Uber wants to make it cheaper to get a ride to the airport, concerts or sporting events. The rideshare company on Wednesday announced the launch of Uber Shuttle, an offering that will let users book up to five seats in a shuttle from a central location to an event or the airport – for less than the cost of a regular Uber ride. The cost of the shuttle rides won’t be affected by surge pricing, a common affliction when lots of people are looking for rides at the same time. Uber has previously rolled out early shuttle tests, including in India, and as an offering for corporate customers. A court in Paris ruled on Tuesday that the film director Roman Polanski did not defame Charlotte Lewis, a British actress who has accused him of raping her, by asserting in a 2019 interview that she was a liar. Delphine Meillet, one of Mr. Polanski’s lawyers, told reporters after the ruling that it was “an extremely important day for the rights” of the director, who is 90. “The question the court was addressing was whether you can defend yourself publicly when you are publicly accused,” Ms. Meillet said. “The answer is yes.”Ms. Lewis, 56, has accused Mr. Polanski of raping her four decades ago, when she was 16, during a casting session at his home in Paris. She told reporters at the courthouse on Tuesday that she would appeal the ruling, for which the court did not explain its reasoning.

Claudia Jessie as Eloise Bridgerton and Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington on the season two finale of "Bridgerton." But before Eloise could lie to Queen Charlotte, Penelope purposely wrote another scathing issue of Lady Whistledown's gossip column and revealed that Eloise was associating with political radicals. "I think it's no secret that prices are going up in pretty much every area right now," Lueke told CNBC. About two thirds, 65%, of U.S. adults surveyed by CNBC/SurveyMonkey this spring said inflation is the main driver of their financial stress. Disinflation, deflation and the 'money illusion'"I think Americans are a little perplexed when they see news reports of inflation coming down, and yet they don't notice any of their prices coming down," said Lindsay Owens, executive director of the nonprofit think tank Groundwork Collaborative. There's an important difference between inflation increasing more slowly — a phenomenon called disinflation — and inflation reversing itself, which would lead to prices coming down. When they do fall, it is typically a result of people spending less, which isn't currently the case.
