CNN —A former aide to ex-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who previously claimed Cuomo groped her breast, is filing a lawsuit against him alleging sexual harassment and abuse, according to a summons filed this week. Commisso’s claims are provably false, which is why the Albany District Attorney dismissed the case two years ago after a thorough investigation,” Cuomo attorney Rita Glavin told CNN in a statement. The report triggered the eventual resignation of Cuomo, which he announced on August 10, 2021, a week after it was released. According to the state’s report, Commisso told investigators Cuomo grabbed her buttocks during hugs and a photo. Commisso claims she was demoted by the then lieutenant governor, now governor, Kathy Hochul, removed from the front office, and moved to the “demeaning task of answering telephones” for Hochul’s office, according to the document.

REUTERS/Mike Segar/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNov 17 (Reuters) - Donald Trump wasted little time attacking a New York judge’s top clerk on Thursday after an appeals court paused a gag order barring the former U.S president from speaking publicly about court staff amid his civil fraud trial. Trump, the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, took to his Truth Social platform several hours after the gag order by Justice Arthur Engoron was paused to call his “Trump hating” top clerk “politically biased and out of control.”Engoron had imposed the order in October after Trump shared a photo of his top clerk on social media. He has fined Trump a total of $15,000 for twice violating it and warned of more serious consequences for future breaches, including imprisonment. James is seeking at least $250 million in fines and a New York commercial real estate ban against Trump and his sons Donald Jr. and Eric Trump.

A New York judge on Friday denied a request by former President Donald Trump and his co-defendants for a mistrial in the $250 million civil business fraud case against them. The ruling came two days after attorneys for Trump Sr., Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, the Trump Organization and its top executives argued that the case had been undermined by political bias. In addition to seeking $250 million in damages, James wants to permanently bar Trump and his two adult sons from running a New York business. Engoron has already found the defendants liable for fraud and ordered the cancellation of their New York business certificates. Trump, a leading Republican presidential candidate, faces four pending criminal cases in addition to the fraud case and other civil matters.

More than 1,200 people in Israel died, most of them in the Hamas attack, and about 240 hostages were taken from Israel into Gaza by Palestinian militants. The army said Tuesday that it has captured Gaza’s legislature building, the Hamas police headquarters and a compound housing Hamas’ military intelligence headquarters. Israeli news sites showed pictures of Israeli soldiers hoisting the Israeli national flag and military flags in some of the buildings. Nov 13 (Reuters) - Donald Trump Jr. testified on Monday about what he called the "sexiness" of his father's real estate portfolio, in his second time taking the stand in the former U.S. president's civil fraud trial. Donald Jr. said the "sexiness" of his father's real estate projects attracted licensing deals with other developers who wanted to emulate his style. "Let him go ahead and talk about how great the Trump Organization is," said Engoron, who has defended himself during the trial from allegations of bias from Trump and his lawyers. Donald Jr., Eric and Ivanka Trump said they were not involved in preparing their father's financial statements and left bookkeeping at the Trump Organization to accountants. The justices are considering whether to hear U.S. Soccer's appeal of a lower court's decision to allow the lawsuit by New York-based Relevent Sports to proceed. The lawsuit, filed in 2019 in Manhattan federal court against U.S. Soccer and FIFA, claimed the ban violated American antitrust law and sought to stop the two organizations from implementing it. U.S. Soccer is a member of FIFA, soccer's international governing body. The United States hosts "friendly" games involving foreign professional teams, but the games do not count in league standings. U.S. soccer has argued that it had no role as a FIFA member in forming the international organization's 2018 policy banning foreign clubs from holding competitive matches outside the teams' home countries.

Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the former president, will testify Monday in his father’s civil fraud trial, making a return appearance in a proceeding that has featured a parade of family members on the witness stand. He is being called by defense lawyers as they begin their arguments in the trial, which began five weeks ago and could last until mid-December. The case against Donald J. Trump stems from a lawsuit brought by New York’s attorney general, Letitia James, which accuses Mr. Trump and other defendants, including his companies and his sons Donald Jr. and Eric, of fraudulently inflating the value of assets to obtain favorable loans and insurance deals. The state rested its case last week. In his first appearance, on Nov. 1, Donald Trump Jr. testified after being called by prosecutors that he had no direct involvement in annual financial statements that his family’s business gave banks and insurers, despite language in the statements suggesting that he was partially responsible for them.

CNN —The Chinese government has built up the world’s largest known online disinformation operation and is using it to harass US residents, politicians, and businesses—at times threatening its targets with violence, a CNN review of court documents and public disclosures by social media companies has found. Victims face a barrage of tens of thousands of social media posts that call them traitors, dogs, and racist and homophobic slurs. While tech and social media companies have shut down thousands of accounts targeting these victims, they’re outpaced by a slew of new accounts emerging virtually every day. As part of a mission “to manipulate public perceptions of [China], the Group uses its misattributed social media accounts to threaten, harass and intimidate specific victims,” the complaint states. In the past, the Spamouflage network mostly focused on issues domestically relevant to China.

CHICAGO (AP) — Hundreds of Jewish peace activists and their allies converged at a major train station in downtown Chicago during rush hour Monday morning, blocking the entrance to the Israeli consulate and demanding U.S. support for an Israel cease-fire as battles rage in northern Gaza. Midwestern Jews and allies traveled to Chicago from Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin and Illinois for the demonstration, organizers said. The Israeli consulate in Chicago is in a building connected to the Ogilvie Transportation Center, a major commuter rail station. The Chicago rally is unique from the previous Jewish Voice demonstrations because in the Midwest, “progressive Jewish communities are far smaller and separated by distance,” according to an emailed press release from organizers. “Trains continued to run throughout.”The Israeli consulate in Chicago did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Waikiki hotel is ditching the Trump name

New York CNN —The number of Trump Hotels continues to dwindle, with the chain’s Hawaii resort the latest to ditch the tarnished name for a less politicized brand. The Trump International Hotel Waikiki is joining Hilton and will no longer have the former president’s name attached to it. In February 2024, the 38-floor hotel will be called the Wākea Waikiki Beach, as part of the Hilton LXR collection of high-end resorts. Trump troublesWith the departure of its Hawaiian hotel, the number of Trump Hotels and Resorts is down to just eight across the world. The Trump hotel in Las Vegas — a hotel condominium of which Trump owns half — had misleading financial statements between 2013 and 2021, the suit alleges, due to income projections based on the sale of residential units that assumed prices much higher than what units were selling for, among other reasons.

Federal prosecutors in New York on Wednesday announced the arrests of 10 men allegedly belonging to or associated with the Gambino Mafia family, as well as the arrests in Italy of six other alleged organized crime members and associates. Prosecutors said the Brooklyn defendants, who are charged in a 16-count indictment, committed those crimes as part of an effort to dominate New York's carting and demolition industries. It previously was led by the late notorious boss John Gotti, who died in a federal prison in Missouri in 2002. The defendants arrested in New York on Wednesday included the alleged Gambino captain Joseph "Joe Brooklyn" Lanni.
