There appears to be an economic rebound taking place — and history shows ways to play it in the market, according to Bank of America. "It's official: we're in a Recovery," wrote strategist Savita Subramanian in a note to clients Sunday. An average recovery lasts nine months, though shorter durations seen in recent history raise concern that this one may not have staying power, she said. Still, the average analyst has a hold rating on the stock, according to LSEG. The average analyst has a hold rating on the stock, but price targets imply an upside of more than 7% on average.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The grit Baker Mayfield showed Tampa Bay down the stretch of his debut sure outweighed the rough start. Mayfield recovered to throw two touchdown passes without a turnover, and the Buccaneers beat Minnesota 20-17 in the season opener after three first-half turnovers by the Vikings on Sunday. “It wasn’t our prettiest effort by any means, but we finished the right way,” Mayfield said. But after going an NFL-record 11-0 in one-score games during the 2022 regular season, the Vikings ran out of that late-game mojo. The Vikings have less urgency around Jefferson with two seasons left on his rookie contract.

Gates bought the stock around the time A-B reported earnings that fully encompassed the fallout from Bud Light’s partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. Last month, A-B said that its US revenue fell 10% in the second quarter, hampered by falling Bud Light sales. A few weeks later, Modelo overtook Bud Light in sales at grocery and beer stores, according to NIQ data, marking the first time Modelo has ever beaten Bud Light on a year-to-date basis. However, the difference is slim with Modelo holding 8.34% share of dollars spent on beer vs. 8.28% for Bud Light through August 12. Gates, who has previously admitted that he’s “not a big beer drinker,” has bought other beer brands too.

New York CNN —Modelo Especial is now officially America’s best-selling beer, dethroning Bud Light from the top spot it has largely held for the past two decades. Year-to-date sales data through August 12 shows it was tight, but Modelo eked out the top spot with an 8.34 share vs. 8.28 for Bud Light. Summer has been a bright spot for the Mexican lager, with Modelo surpassing Bud Light in May, June and July monthly sales. Modelo has held a 9.1 share for the past four weeks as Bud Light slipped to a 7 share of off-premise beer sales. There’s been some “material improvement,” for the Anheuser-Busch (BUD) brand Bud Light, according to Beer Business Daily, a trade publication.

"Modelo has been on a rise and Bud Light's been on a decline as we've seen overall shifts in the beer market in the last 10 years." Bud Light is winning over Americans again. Conservatives turned on the brand after it started sponsoring the transgender TikTok personality Dylan Mulvaney. But a recent poll showed “substantive signs of progress” for the beer, according to Deutsche Bank. The German bank said Wednesday that the beer brand had shown "substantive signs of progress" in August as it tries to regain customers after its collaboration with Dylan Mulvaney sparked a conservative backlash. Back in April, transgender influencer Mulvaney posted a video promoting Bud Light as part of a partnership with the brand.

Target CEO Brian Cornell said "negative reaction" to the retailer's Pride merchandise hurt sales and contributed to the disappointing quarterly results that the company reported on Wednesday. He said the company saw behavior by some shoppers in June that "caused our teams to feel unsafe at work." He said the effort helps Target better reflect the communities it is in, which "adds tremendous value for our shareholders." When Target reported its results Wednesday, executives declined to estimate the financial hit from the Pride merchandise response. Some of the merchandise that came under fire was made by vendors rather than part of Target's own brands.
