"Removals of Haitian nationals encountered at our southern border and repatriation of Haitian nationals encountered at sea continue," the spokesperson said, noting the Biden administration had expanded parole processes for Haitian migrants. "Those interdicted at sea are subject to immediate repatriation, and those encountered in the United States without a legal basis to remain are subject to removal," they said. The United Nations and human rights group have called on the United States and other countries to stop this practice. A 3-year-old child died while traveling on a bus chartered by the state of Texas as it transported asylum seekers from the border city of Brownsville to Chicago as part of Gov. On a 90-degree day in early May, hundreds of migrants were gathered on American soil near a border gate in El Paso. Many had waited for days, without food, shelter or enough water and bathrooms, before Border Patrol agents allowed them through the gate and took them to holding facilities. Until recently, Shein has relied on sourcing its products through its on-demand manufacturing model. Last month, the Chinese-owned e-commerce company expanded its marketplace beyond clothing and introduced home appliances, electronics, gardening supplies, and kitchen utensils, among other categories. But to grow its offerings, the company took a page out of Amazon's Marketplace playbook and opened its marketplace to third-party retailers in May. In doing so, it may invite more of the same counterfeit and copyright infringement issues that Amazon's marketplace has faced. In 2020, Amazon established its Counterfeit Crimes Unit, which works with brands to identify and remove counterfeit products.

In central and northern Mexico, migrants can gain access to a government app on smartphones, where they can apply for an appointment at an official port of entry at the U.S. border. In April, the Biden administration announced that migrants from El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras would be eligible for a family reunification program. The measures Mexico has taken include limiting migrants’ abilities to travel throughout the country, making it harder for them to reach the U.S. border. Mexico is also flying migrants whom the United States has recently deported to southern parts of the country.
